As an emerging leader in the $10B+ communications API market, we empower global brands to connect better with their customers, employees, and partners through transformative communications experiences. Vonage, part of the Ericsson Group, is a global leader in cloud communications, enabling businesses to embed Voice, SMS, MMS, RCS, and Network API capabilities into their applications. Vonage serves thousands of enterprise customers globally, including some of the world's largest hyperscalers and digital-first businesses, and is uniquely positioned at the intersection of CPaaS and 5G Network API through its integration with Ericsson's global network infrastructure.

The entirety of Vonage's CPaaS and Network API revenue depends on the supplier relationships this role owns. Without executed carrier agreements, no message is delivered, no call is connected, and no Network API capability reaches a customer. The speed, quality, and cost structure of Vonage's global connectivity supply directly determines its ability to win enterprise accounts, defend existing revenue, and deliver on product commitments. The Senior Director of Global Connectivity is the individual accountable for ensuring that supply is always ahead of demand.

Responsibilities

~1 min read

The Senior Director, Global Connectivity leads Vonage's global carrier and Network API sourcing function, one of the most strategically consequential roles in the organization. This individual is responsible for building, managing, and optimizing the supplier portfolio that underpins every CPaaS and Network API product Vonage delivers to its customers globally.

The role spans three regional Carrier Partnerships teams (AMER, EMEA, and APAC), a dedicated Network API Partnerships function, and the commercial relationships that govern how Vonage connects to the world's carrier networks and 5G infrastructure. The Senior Director translates Vonage's product ambitions and revenue targets into a global sourcing strategy, then drives execution through regional teams, legal pipelines, and cross-functional alignment with Product, Operations, Sales, Legal, and Ericsson Group stakeholders.

  • Define and own Vonage's global carrier sourcing strategy across Voice, SMS, MMS, and RCS, ensuring the supplier portfolio supports current revenue delivery and future product growth

  • Lead three regional Carrier Partnerships teams (AMER, EMEA, APAC), setting direction, coaching regional leads, and ensuring a consistent strategic mindset permeates all three regions

  • Drive direct carrier connectivity as a strategic priority, pursuing and executing direct CSP agreements in the US and key international markets to reduce aggregator dependency, lower unit costs, and improve delivery quality

  • Own Balance of Trade relationships and bilateral exchange agreements in coordination with the Trading function under Sales, ensuring volume commitments are commercially sound and operationally executable

  • Oversee the Network API Partnerships team responsible for sourcing 5G Network API capabilities (Quality on Demand, Silent Authentication, Number Verify, and others) from Ericsson carrier partners globally

  • Drive execution against the Network API OKR to expand coverage to target countries and distinct API signals, in alignment with Vonage's NwPS strategy and Ericsson's Aduna partnership framework

  • Serve as the senior commercial owner for Network API supplier relationships, navigating CFIUS, NCT, and regulatory review processes for new agreements

  • Own the health of the carrier legal backlog, maintaining a structured P0 prioritization framework to ensure the most commercially urgent contracts move through Legal review without unnecessary delay

  • Partner with Legal stakeholders to unblock structural constraints, including governing law challenges, that stall P0 agreements

  • Ensure that contract execution velocity keeps pace with the sourcing roadmap, so that Product integration and revenue realization are not gated by commercial delays

  • Own the global RCS sourcing roadmap, driving carrier agreements across AMER, EMEA, and APAC at the pace required to support Product launches and customer commitments

  • Continuously evaluate the plan-versus-execution gap by cross-referencing the sourcing roadmap against the live legal pipeline, identifying stalled markets and mobilizing resources to unblock them

  • Identify and prioritize emerging channel sourcing opportunities (RCS, Network APIs, and future channels) in coordination with Product and NwPS leadership

  • Serve as the primary Global Connectivity interface for Product, Connectivity Operations, Sales, Legal, and Ericsson Group stakeholders

  • Ensure that commercial agreements signed by Global Connectivity are operationally executable, working in close coordination with Connectivity Operations (Technical Routing, Identity & Numbering Operations, Trust & Safety, and Commercial Operations) to translate contracts into live, revenue-generating connectivity

  • Represent Vonage's sourcing interests in Ericsson and Aduna group-level forums where relevant, ensuring Vonage's commercial roadmap is visible and supported at the group level

  • Lead a globally distributed team of Directors and Managers across four functions, setting clear expectations, developing regional leaders into strategic thinkers, and building a high-performance sourcing culture

  • Coach regional leads to bring a product-minded, insight-driven approach to carrier engagement, ensuring that industry intelligence flows back into Vonage's Product and Sales teams

Required:

  • 10+ years in telecommunications, CPaaS, or carrier partnerships, with at least 5 years in senior people management across multiple regions or functions

  • Demonstrated track record of executing complex, multi-party carrier or technology agreements in regulated markets, including direct CSP negotiations

  • Experience managing globally distributed teams and driving alignment across commercial, legal, product, and operational stakeholders

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate product and revenue goals into a global sourcing roadmap and hold a team accountable to its execution

  • Strong commercial acumen; able to evaluate bilateral agreements, unit cost structures, and supplier portfolios with a clear lens on margin contribution and risk

  • High emotional intelligence and executive-level influencing skills; builds alignment with Legal, Product, and Group stakeholders through credibility and relationship, not positional authority

  • Comfortable operating at both the strategic level (defining the roadmap) and the tactical level (unblocking a stalled contract)

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Global carrier connectivity: direct CSP agreements, aggregator relationships, bilateral trading, and SMS/Voice/RCS routing economics

  • Network API sourcing: 5G Core API frameworks, GSMA Open Gateway, and carrier partnership structures for exposing network capabilities

  • CPaaS regulatory environments: governing law considerations, NCT and CFIUS processes, and international numbering and registration frameworks
