The network is becoming programmable and Vonage is at the centre of that transformation.

As part of Ericsson, Vonage is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between carrier network capabilities and enterprise demand. Our Network APIs portfolio, spanning Quality on Demand, Silent Authentication, SIM Swap, Identity Insights, Location Services, and more, is rapidly scaling across 17+ countries and growing.

We are at an inflection point: the market is validating, enterprise customers are deploying, and the window to establish category leadership is now.

This is not a traditional strategy role. It is a senior, highly autonomous in-house engagement function (think Senior Engagement Manager or Associate Partner) embedded inside Vonage and working directly on the most consequential strategic bets in the Network API space. You’ll operate independently: anticipating needs before they are articulated, self-directing across complex and ambiguous engagements, and always thinking several moves ahead.

As Senior Director, Strategic Projects, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and execution partner to the VP, Business Innovation.

This is a senior role operating with a high degree of autonomy. You will own complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end; defining priorities, identifying the right problems to solve, and driving work from first principles through to measurable impact.

Working at the intersection of strategy, business development, product, and go-to-market, you will help shape and execute Vonage’s strategy in the Network API ecosystem. The ideal candidate is highly resourceful, proactive in connecting across the organisation, and brings strong strategic judgment and a big-picture mindset to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end ownership of high-priority strategic projects for the Network API business, from scoping and hypothesis development through to synthesis, recommendations, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Define project objectives, assemble cross-functional teams (product, engineering, BD, marketing, legal), and manage delivery against plan.
  • Translate ambiguous, complex business challenges into clear, defensible answers with "make or save money" logic.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership; prepare and present executive-level materials for internal and external audiences including CSP partners, enterprise customers, and Ericsson leadership.
  • Manage relationships with key internal clients (e.g., members of the Network API and BGCP leadership teams) and external partners.
  • Represent Vonage's Network API strategy in high-stakes engagements, including CSP negotiations, partner discussions, and industry forums (e.g., CAMARA, GSMA Open Gateway).
  • Develop and maintain a rigorous view of the competitive landscape, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities across the Network API ecosystem.
  • Translate market intelligence into actionable implications for Vonage, informing portfolio choices, go-to-market strategy, and capital/resource allocation.
  • Conduct scenario planning and business case development to evaluate strategic options and investment decisions.
  • Construct GTM strategies for new and emerging Network API opportunities, including business, commercial, and operating model design.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across target verticals (Banking & Financial Services, Mobility, Industrials, Healthcare, and beyond).
  • Support the development of thought leadership content and strategic narratives for external audiences.
  • Build reusable frameworks, playbooks, and analytical models that scale impact beyond individual engagements.
  • Contribute to the overall management of the Special Projects function, including project prioritisation, staffing, and operational development.
  • Foster a culture of rigor, speed, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, with a strong foundation in top-tier strategy/management consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent), ideally at the Senior Engagement Manager, Associate Partner, or Engagement Manager level.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex, ambiguous strategic projects from problem framing to executive-ready recommendations.
  • Experience in or deep familiarity with the telecom, cloud, or enterprise technology ecosystem; understanding of the Network API / CAMARA / GSMA Open Gateway landscape is a strong plus.
  • Prior in-house strategy experience at a technology company is advantageous.
  • Self-directed and resourceful: operates independently with minimal oversight; proactively identifies what needs to be done, mobilises the right resources, and drives to outcomes without waiting to be asked.
  • Strategic big-picture thinker: strong systemic and critical thinking; sees around corners, connects dots across the business, and frames problems in ways that unlock new solutions. Executive presence: credible and compelling with C-suite and senior stakeholders; strong negotiation and decision facilitation skills.
  • Financial and analytical rigour: strong business case development, market sizing, and scenario analysis capabilities; comfort working with data and quantitative models.
  • World-class communication: concise, compelling storytelling; ability to translate complex technical topics (e.g., QoD, 5G network slicing, CAMARA APIs) into clear business value for executive audiences.
  • Cross-functional leadership: proven ability to lead and align diverse teams without direct authority; calm under pressure and decisive in trade-offs.
  • Results orientation: relentless focus on business outcomes, including revenue growth, market share, partner activation, and strategic milestone delivery.#LI-JM1
