The Business Development Senior Director for Science & Exploration is responsible for growing Voyager's space business by winning new contracts across NASA, foreign space agencies, DoW, and commercial customers for products including power systems, avionics, electric propulsion, and related engineering services.
The position reports to the Executive Vice President of Business Development – Space Solutions and is part of the Business Development Team. This role is remote.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Develop and execute near and long-term business development strategies/campaigns to drive business opportunities in alignment with Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Strategic Plan objectives to meet or exceed AOP Bookings.
- Lead, plan, and ensure successful execution of business development efforts including the end-to-end capture lifecycle and strategic planning process. Engage customers and vendors to understand and shape pre-solicitation efforts. Fulfill requests for information (RFI), requests for proposals (RFP), and other partner and customer requests.
- Track emerging markets and trends; propose and develop solutions including new offerings or strategic partnerships to address evolving competition, pricing, and demand.
- Empower line of business and collaborates with technology development team, product development team, finance, marketing, as well as with other Voyager stakeholders, to yield sustainable long-term business growth.
- Attend industry events to both establish the company, but also to network for potential new business and strengthen external relationships
- Foster an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company and across all teams and work functions
Requirements
~4 min read- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or management fields; master’s degree in business administration or engineering preferred.
- 12+ years professional experience in the Space industry & notable experience in National Security Space. Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Process (FAR/IDIQ) preferred.
- 10+ years executing sales & business development and developing a strong pipeline in a technology, defense, or aerospace company.
- Experience executing business development activities, including briefing executive leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate with prospective customers and clients, partners, vendors, and the press.
- Experience in project management skills with the ability to prioritize work streams and track progress across multiple teams
- Expert multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
- Strong research and analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate ideas, opportunities, issues, options, and recommendations to senior leadership
- A self-starter, with a roll-up-the-sleeves mentality; desire to innovate, and work in a hands-on and fast-paced environment
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
- This role requires frequent travel, with some months exceeding 50% of the time away overnight.
- Must possess or have the ability to secure a Secret Department of War Security Clearance
The good faith base salary range for this role is $215,000 - $225,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
