In this role, you will work closely with the People team and external system consultants to design and build a seamless integration between our HRIS and our Payroll provider. ABOUT THE TEAM
At VTEX, you will be part of the People Systems team within the Tech Organization, a group dedicated to strengthening the technological support behind our People operations. The team's mission is to optimize and innovate the systems that power key HR processes such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, benefits, and payroll.

As a Software Engineer, you’ll work closely with the People team to deeply understand their needs and develop effective, scalable solutions. You'll also collaborate with other team members in a shared development environment, dive into the intricacies of our systems to identify opportunities for improvement, and engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into smart technical decisions.

WHO YOU ARE

We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong backend experience and a collaborative mindset, focused on building scalable, cloud-based solutions. You should have:

Solid experience in backend development, especially with Python (intermediate level), writing clean and testable code.
Proficiency in building and documenting RESTful APIs.
Hands-on experience with serverless architectures and key AWS services: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, and CloudWatch.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code, preferably using Pulumi in Python-based projects.
Strong Git skills and collaborative development workflows.
A curious and analytical mindset, with the ability to dive deep into systems and drive improvements.
Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ownership mentality, from planning to delivery, and adaptability in dynamic or ambiguous environments.
Proficiency in English (reading and writing) for technical communication.

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with other IaC tools (e.g., AWS CDK, Terraform).
Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
Background in HR systems or payroll processes.
Interest in or familiarity with using AI-powered tools or approaches to improve processes, efficiency, or decision-making.
