Position Summary:

This position supports the Wabanaki Center for Healing and Recovery Division. Counselors provide alcohol and/or opioid use treatment, support, resources, and education to patients, family members, and the community. This individual will advocate for and offer a coordinated effort to support the patient in meeting their individual treatment goals. This position requires compassionate service in an environment committed to learning and growth alongside a dedicated team having a positive impact on patient experience.


This is a full-time benefits eligible position


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums in collaboration with the Program Clinical Supervisor and Director.
    • Provides high quality, compassionate individual, group and family counseling for patients, families and the community; facilitating or co-facilitating assigned groups and/or family sessions as needed.
    • Provides compassionate bio-psycho-social services that demonstrates respect to patients, patient families and the community.
    • Ensures all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents are completed in a timely and clear/concise manner in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
    • Prepares individual treatment plans for each assigned patient. Formulates initial/follow-up assessments and aftercare for all assigned patients.
    • Evaluates and educates based upon patient needs and determines if referrals to other programs and/or facilities are needed for patients and family/significant others in a therapeutic milieu setting.
    • Provides crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
    • Provides case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality of care as needed.
    • Participates in weekly clinical staff meetings with other members of the patient team to review patient progress and service requirements.
    • Collaborate with other staff, medical agencies/providers, and community outreach to provide appropriate support and presence for individual treatment progress.
    • Follows all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection, including alcohol drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
    • Perform other related duties as required or assigned


    Education and Experience Required:

    • Must be a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or preferably a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in the State of Maine.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relatable field is preferred
    • Current basic life support (BLS)
    • Experience working with Tribal Communities preferred

      

      Skills and Qualifications Required:

      • Willingness to travel to and perform duties at other Wabanaki Center for Healing and Recovery locations, as needed.
      • Possess a basic knowledge of administrative functions including interpersonal communications, office etiquette, and computer skills.
      • Advanced knowledge of Wellbriety or 12-step treatment model and its application in residential treatment.
      • Knowledge and understanding of systems of violence and trauma, including inter-generational effects of historical trauma and cultural diversity.
      • Availability to work weekends – Flexible schedule.
      • Must pass all background and credentialing checks.
