Overflow Custodian Job Description
Location: Overflow Church, 210 West Napier Ave, Benton Harbor, MI 49022
Position Type: Part-Time (15–17 hours per week)

Overview:
Overflow Church is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented individual to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and
sanitation of our church building. This role is essential in creating a welcoming and safe environment for our
congregation and guests.

Key Responsibilities:
 Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors
 Sweep, mop, and vacuum all flooring surfaces
 Empty trash and dispose of waste appropriately, replace with new trash bags
 Wipe down surfaces in common areas, including the lobby, sanctuary, classrooms, stairwells, green room,
lounge, and offices
 Clean glass doors, windows, and mirrors as needed
 Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and fellowship hall areas
 Restock restroom supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.)
 Monitor and report building maintenance needs or damage
 Water and tend to landscaping/plants around the building as needed
 Prepare facility for services, events, and gatherings as needed
 Change out words on the road sign as needed

Qualifications:
 Prior experience in cleaning or janitorial work preferred but not required
 Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
 Ability to manage time efficiently and follow a cleaning schedule
 Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive tasks
 Trustworthy and dependable, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respect for the church
environment

Schedule:
• Part-time, 15–17 hours per week.  Some weeks may be a slightly more due to busy season.
• Flexible schedule, with availability needed before and/or after services and special events
