JOB PURPOSE 

The Senior Valuation Officer plays a key role in overseeing and supporting the valuation framework for UCITS and AIF structures managed or supervised by Waystone. In addition to providing high-quality valuation oversight and technical expertise, the role contributes actively to the commercial enablement of the Waystone service by supporting client engagement, model design, and the articulation of Waystone’s valuation capabilities to internal and external stakeholders. The role operates at the intersection of technical valuation, regulatory compliance, and client-facing service delivery.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assist in leading and overseeing the valuation process for a portfolio of alternative investment funds, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Act as a senior valuation subject-matter expert in support of client, commercial, and product initiatives, including RFPs, client due diligence, and service design discussions.
  • Participate in client and prospect discussions to explain valuation frameworks, governance, and methodologies in a clear, structured, and credible manner.
  • Support the onboarding of new funds and mandates, including documenting, reviewing, and validating valuation frameworks, methodologies, and governance arrangements in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and ongoing maintenance of valuation policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting valuation activities and industry standards and contribute to impact assessments and implementation actions.
  • Conduct valuation analyses across a broad range of asset classes, including liquid instruments, complex financial instruments, and illiquid assets, and support the preparation of valuation reports and committee materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support valuation-related audits, regulatory queries, and due diligence exercises carried out by auditors, regulators, depositaries, and investors, in support of the Head of Valuation.
  • Identify and support opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and enhancement of valuation methodologies to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of the valuation function.
  • Collaborate with internal commercial, client service, and product teams to ensure valuation considerations are appropriately articulated.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, regulatory awareness, and commercial mindset.
  • Act as a trusted internal point of reference on valuation-related topics across the organisation.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • You hold a University Master's degree in Economics, Finance or Mathematics. A specialization in quantitative economics will be considered as an advantage.
  • 7+ years experience in valuation within the asset management industry is preferred, with a focus on alternative investment funds.
  • Strong understanding of valuation principles, methodologies, and techniques for a wide range of asset classes including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative investments.
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative finance, risk management methods and financial instruments.
  • Profound knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to valuation of AIFMDs and UCITS.
  • Professional certification preferred, CFA, FRM CAIA, CFI certifications or any valuation certificate.
  • Good analytical, organizational, writing and communication skills.
  • Able to work both independently. Recognized team player.
  • Fluent in English; any other language will be considered as an asset.
