The Vice President of Human Resources & Organizational Development (HR & OD) acts as a strategic business partner, leadership advisor, associate champion, and change agent to drive meaningful cultural change and integrated HR solutions to align organizational talent with strategic business priorities. The Vice President of HR is directly responsible for the overall strategic planning, administration, and evaluation of the Human Resources function. This position assumes overall responsibility for employee learning and development, wage and benefit strategy and administration, employee relations, recruitment, retention, and compliance with all state and federal employment laws.  Performance of the duties requires the application of executive skills and the exercise of initiative, tact, and independent judgment.

  • Oversee the administration and implementation of existing HR programs while exploring and anticipating opportunities to implement best practices and continuous improvement in the HR function and the organization. 
  • Interprets policy in assigned areas and provides internal consultation with senior management. 
  • Establishes measures to ensure consistency in HR practices as it relates to classification, compensation, and job descriptions, including analysis and specifications, organizational structure as well as various related issues to above.
  • Maintains organizational compliance with all company policies and employment laws.
  • Provides guidance and advice to the President/CEO, Executive Leadership and the Human Resources team on employee complaints and investigations.
  • Responsible for collaborating with the President/CEO and CFO to set annual strategy compensation and benefits.  
  • Responsible for all decisions related to the management of the HR Department regarding personnel actions, acquisitions, resources, procedures, and systems.
  • Oversee the implementation of Organizational Development and Talent Management programs and initiatives to create effective processes and tools.
  • Oversee strategic recruitment activities including processes involving sourcing talent/recruitment, partnerships with community organizations, pre-employment, interviewing effectiveness, orientation, and on-boarding.
  • Oversee organizational culture initiatives to enable a work environment in which staff and associates perform to the best of their abilities.
  • Improve group and individual performance by increasing and honing associate and management skills and knowledge. 
  • Lead HR department staff meetings and attend senior leader and executive leadership team meetings.
  • Perform Administrator-On-Call duties as assigned.
  • Proven skills and experience in the implementation of new programs, with the ability to gain ‘buy-in’ at all levels within the organization. 
  • Excellent decision-making skills; organizational skills; ability to work effectively with residents and staff; attention to detail; and ability to effectively prioritize multiple high-priority projects.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to present a strong business case to all applicable stakeholders with a proven ability to communicate effectively and persuade others on sensitive and competing issues. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent project management, time management, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field (master’s preferred).
  • SHRM/HRCI certified. 
  • At least 10-15 years of progressive HR leadership, including senior or executive-level roles.
  • Experience in long-term care, CCRC, hospital or hospitality setting preferred.
