Type: Replacement
Summary of duties, but not limited to:
Comprehensive care planning and assess and implement short-term psychotherapy, including:
Patient Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of children and adolescents
Formulate assessment findings and determine the suitability for appropriate resources
Consult with team members and participate in team discussion regarding assessment and treatment, when required
Care Planning:
Develop an intervention plan in collaboration the interdisciplinary team, based on identified needs.
Document intervention plan according to specific hospital and professional standards.
Interventions:
Provide individual group therapy/treatment for children and adolescents and draw upon recognized psychotherapy models
Consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, as required.
Provide Parent Support:
Conduct family assessments to identify strengths, needs, and intervention goals
Provide individualized parent coaching to support child development and family well-being
Educate parents on age-appropriate developmental milestones from infancy, early childhood until 18 years of age.
Support healthy sleep routines and address common childhood sleep challenges
Coach parents in managing temper tantrums and other challenging behaviors.
Teach emotional validation techniques to strengthen parent-child attachment and support children’s emotional regulation
Help parents build effective communication and discipline tools that foster cooperation and resilience.
Team and Program Development:
Participate in program development, student education and research as required in a fully affiliated academic setting within the University of Toronto. Participate in personal professional development.
As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications
Master degree in related field required
Current registration with a College that allows for the regulated practice of psychotherapy required
Minimum 3 years clinical mental health experience, preferably in a hospital setting
Experience working with families, providing parenting support, and treating children and adolescents’ mental health issues.
Demonstrated experience with a variety of psychotherapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic, and group therapy.
Experience in the treatment of trauma-based mental health issues
Skilled in assessing issues related to childhood trauma
Skilled in assessing issues related to family dynamics
Comfortable facilitating both psycho-educational and process groups.
Ability to work independently and manage complex and high-acuity patients
Experience with virtual service-delivery, including delivery of psychotherapy by video
Experience with use of therapist-facilitated online psychotherapy applications an asset
Excellent time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, and electronic medical record
Exceptional written/verbal communication skills
Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
