Nursing Intern (Fall 2026) | Residential Behavioral Health

Since 1960, Wedgwood Christian Services has been dedicated to boldly taking on the toughest mental health and behavioral health problems in West Michigan. We serve children, teens, families, and adults through residential care, counseling services, and community programs.

We are seeking a Nursing Intern to support our Residential Nursing team serving youth in mental and behavioral health stabilization programs.

In this role, you will gain hands-on clinical experience in a residential treatment setting—working alongside nurses, clinicians, and a multidisciplinary team. You’ll learn how to support medication management, assist with health assessments, and contribute to a safe, structured environment for youth with complex needs.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing a career in nursing with an interest in pediatric or behavioral health settings.

With guidance from the Nursing team, you will:

• →Observe and assist with medication management processes
• →Support health-related documentation, including assessments and observations
• →Assist with triage of minor injuries under supervision
• →Administer medications, including injections and vaccines, as permitted and supervised
• →Learn and apply standing medical orders and clinical protocols
• →Participate in a multidisciplinary team environment supporting youth care
• →Help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment grounded in the Sanctuary Model® (safety, emotional intelligence, open communication, and social learning)
• →Maintain accurate, confidential records in alignment with healthcare standards

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Nursing program
• Strong interest in working with adolescents with mental health needs
• Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical clinical practice
• Ability to maintain consistent, reliable attendance and adhere to scheduled hours
