This role is fully in-person in Castle Rock, Colorado. Candidates should live locally or within a reasonable commuting distance to ensure reliable daily attendance. One Weekly Work-From-Home Planning Day After Probation


Wellspring Community is seeking a full-time Program Teacher to lead structured enrichment and vocational classes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in our Castle Rock day program.


This is not a passive classroom role, it is an active, hands-on position for someone who enjoys teaching, behavior support, collaboration, and meaningful daily impact.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Plan and teach engaging enrichment, vocational, and life-skills classes
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet varied cognitive, behavioral, and physical needs
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies
  • Administer medications (QMAP) and follow health protocols
  • Provide direct support including assistance with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
  • Maintain documentation on participant engagement and progress
  • Collaborate with program staff to strengthen programming and participant outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with families, volunteers, and team members
  • Transport participants to community outings (including driving 15-passenger vehicles when needed)


This role requires strong classroom management, situational awareness, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.



Schedule & Flexibility

This is a full-time, primarily in-person position aligned with program hours. The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

After successful completion of the introductory period, Program Teachers receive one designated planning day per week that may be completed remotely. This structured planning time allows for focused curriculum development, documentation, and preparation.

 

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in special education or a Human Services field preferred.

  • Minimum of one-year experience working with individuals that have intellectual and developmental disabilities in any setting preferred.

  • Experience working with individuals that present physical, emotional, cognitive, and mental health challenges.

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s license and possess the willingness and skills necessary to drive 15 passenger vehicles to transport participants to various outings and activities.

  • Experience providing support with physical, emotional, cognitive, and mental health challenges.

  • Excellent communication and relational skills to manage the multiple relationships within the program environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve effectively and manage the demands of a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Current First Aid/CPR certification to ensure health and safety of clients.

  • Must be able to pass a drug and medical test.
  • Qualified Medication Administration Personnel through CDPHE required, if not currently QMAP certified, we will pay for the costs of obtaining certification.


Position Status: Full-time.  Wellspring Community is located in Castle Rock.
