Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic

  Position Summary This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing large surface mining and plant equipment.  Duties and Responsibilities Conduct inspections on equipment and report any deficiencies. Identify worn and damaged parts, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs. Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Perform preventative maintenance and operational performance checks on equipment. Respond to unplanned equipment outages and assist with preparing major planned shutdowns. Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities. Operate tandem axel truck and support equipment as required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency certificate. Red Seal Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification. Valid class 3 or 1 driver’s license with air (A) endorsement is preferred. Previous experience in a mining environment is an asset. Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights. Schedule This position currently follows a 28-day shift rotation working day and night shifts from 7:00 to 7:00. The shift rotation is: 3 days, 2 off, 2 nights, 3 off, 2 days, 2 off, 3 nights, 2 off, 2 days, 3 off, 2 nights, 2 off. Location The Estevan Mine is located approximately 12 km from the city of Estevan and 16 km from the town of Bienfait. The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation.
