Housekeeper/Custodian Part-Time Nights

The Williston Northampton School, an independent co-educational boarding and day school located in Easthampton, MA, has a part-time, calendar-year opening for a Custodian/Housekeeper.

The schedule for the position is Monday – Friday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping duties in our Children’s Center to ensure clean and orderly conditions by performing the following essential functions: all standard custodial/housekeeping tasks to include sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming classrooms, cleaning bathrooms; empties trash, notifies the housekeeping manager concerning the need for repairs or areas of concern.

The successful candidates must: have one to three years of institutional experience preferably in an educational setting; be able to work intuitively and independently, have strong organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities; have the ability to understand written and/or oral instruction; have demonstrated  interpersonal and communication skills; have a working knowledge of commercial chemicals and cleaning equipment; be capable of performing repetitive tasks such as, bending, lifting (up to 35 lbs.), pushing, stair climbing; be able to work in secondary boarding school atmosphere by successfully passing CORI, SORI and fingerprint based background checks; possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a post offer employment physical.
