(WFH) Senior Accountant - Bright Wealth

The Senior Accountant prepares and reviews compliance work, including financial statements and tax returns, and provides technical guidance to junior and intermediate team members. The role focuses on accuracy, consistency, and applying technical knowledge while supporting workflow efficiency, team development, and client satisfaction.

To guide performance expectations and effective prioritisation, this role's duties are categorised into Core (85%) and Non-Core (15%) responsibilities.

• →Manage allocated tasks and a portfolio of client files, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• →Prepare and review compliance work using firm workpapers and procedures
• →Review work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants, providing constructive feedback
• →Mentor and support the technical development of junior team members
• →Meet KPIs and contribute to divisional outcomes
• →Plan and manage workload, own and across the team, to meet turnaround expectations
• →Track and manage job budgets, WIP, and billing within expectations
• →Maintain accurate workpapers and system records
• →Communicate professionally with clients and team members, acting as a point of escalation for technical queries
• →Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including income tax, GST, FBT, PAYG, Div7a, CGT, and trust distributions
• →Identify tax planning opportunities and provide input on client advisory matters
• →Collaborate with Managers/Directors on workflow, deliverables, and client outcomes
• →Apply and provide review feedback to improve quality and reduce rework across the team

• →Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge
• →Engage in learning and development, including supporting the development of others

• CA/CPA (or working towards)
• 5+ years' experience in accounting
• Knowledge of Australian taxation fundamentals, including Div7a, CGT, and trust structures
• Ability to prepare and review compliance work to trial balance and beyond
• Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Xero, XPM)
• Prior experience reviewing or mentoring junior staff (preferred)
