Our client is recruiting a Consultant ENT Surgeon on a temporary contract. The candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality, specialist care in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of disorders of the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. The role combines clinical care, leadership, teaching, and service development within the HSE.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat ENT conditions (e.g., hearing loss, sinus disease, head & neck cancers)

  • Perform elective and emergency ENT surgeries

  • Manage outpatient clinics and inpatient care

  • Participate in on-call rota for ENT emergencies

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MDTs)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct procedures such as:

    • Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy

    • Septoplasty and sinus surgery

    • Microlaryngoscopy

    • Head & neck oncological surgery

  • Ensure adherence to best surgical practices and patient safety standards

  • Lead and support ENT service delivery within the hospital

  • Supervise NCHDs (Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors)

  • Participate in clinical governance and audit activities

  • Contribute to service planning and improvement initiatives

  • Provide teaching and mentorship to junior doctors and medical students

  • Support training aligned with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland standards

  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD)

  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement projects

  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with national standards

  • Contribute to evidence-based practice
