About the Role
~3 min readOur Field Organizer program will support our Vote WFP campaign in NY17, a must-win general election race in the state. In this district, we aim to help elect NYWFP-endorsed Democrat Cait Conley and defeat MAGA Republican Mike Lawler by driving up votes for Conley on the Working Families ballot line. The Field Organizer will receive comprehensive field training, including on field strategy, community organizing, voter contact tools, persuasion, and volunteer recruitment and management. This program runs from September 21, 2026 to November 6, 2026.
Execute strategic field plans; plan and host phone-banking, canvassing, and other voter contact events; talk to voters
Build, recruit for, and lead multiple in-district community canvasses each week
Record data on a daily basis
Recruit, train and develop volunteers into field leaders; build membership for the Party
Outreach community organizations and constituency groups
Build deep relationships with our priority campaigns and candidates and serve as a day-to-day operations contact
Experience doing field organizing (including as a volunteer) at a community organization, at a union and/or on an electoral campaign
Familiarity with some voter contact/field tools
This person must be a data and people person — able to spend some days in spreadsheets and voter files and other days calling and meeting with volunteers
Deeply relational and can build trust with people from different backgrounds and with different work styles
Values alignment on our theory of change, which is that we are electing progressive champions to form a governing bloc to deliver material results for our people
Operating effectively in a fast-paced, “startup” environment with a lean team
Demonstrated commitment to, and experience in, centering equity and inclusion in your work - removing barriers to participation and engaging people across lines of race, class, age, language and geography, especially when it’s not the path of least resistance
