Cypher/Graph Engineer

You are: 

• A specialist in graph databases, with hands-on experience in modelling, querying, and managing connected data. 

• A strong problem-solver, adept at translating complex business problems into graph-based solutions and efficient Cypher queries.

What you'll be doing:

Design and Implement Graph Database Solutions 

• Design and develop robust graph data models to represent complex relationships within various datasets, catering to specific business use cases in AdTech, marketing, and client intelligence. 

• Implement, configure, and maintain graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) in cloud environments (AWS, GCP). 

• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex Cypher queries to extract, transform, and analyze data efficiently, supporting analytical and operational requirements. 

• Work closely with data engineers to establish seamless data ingestion pipelines for populating and updating graph databases. 

Apply Graph Algorithms and Enable Analytics 

• Identify opportunities to apply graph algorithms (e.g., shortest path, community detection, centrality, PageRank) to uncover hidden patterns and insights within our interconnected data. 

• Collaborate with data scientists to develop and integrate graph-based features for machine learning models and AI applications on the WPP Open platform. 

• Develop APIs and services to expose graph database functionalities and insights to downstream applications and internal tools. 

Ensure Performance, Scalability, and Maintainability 

• Monitor and optimize the performance of graph databases and Cypher queries to ensure efficient data access and processing at scale. 

• Contribute to the architectural design and scaling strategies for our graph database infrastructure. 

• Implement best practices for graph database management, including backup, recovery, and security. 

• Ensure the reliability and maintainability of graph solutions through proper documentation, testing, and version control. 

Collaborate, Educate, and Innovate 

• Serve as a subject matter expert on graph databases and Cypher, providing guidance and training to other engineering and data science teams. 

• Actively participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making processes. 

• Research and evaluate new graph technologies, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve our capabilities and competitive edge. 

What you'll need:

• 2-5 years of professional experience in a role focused on graph databases, data engineering, or software engineering with significant exposure to graph technologies. 

• Proven expertise and hands-on experience with Cypher query language is essential. 

• Demonstrated experience with at least one major graph database platform (e.g., Neo4j, Graph API). 

• English fluency B2/C1 

• Strong understanding of graph data modeling principles and best practices for representing complex relationships. 

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python) for data integration, API development, and scripting. 

• Familiarity with common graph algorithms and their practical applications. 

• Experience working in a cloud environment (GCP preferred), including deploying and managing database services. 

• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with data integration/ETL processes. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose performance issues and design efficient solutions. 

• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
