As a member of the Global Technical Operations (TechOps), you will be a part of a globally distributed team that focuses on operational reliability within a cloud-based infrastructure. We are looking for a Director of Cloud Operations with the following characteristics:
What you'll be doing:
- Strategic level of thinking. You have experience setting direction, establishing governance, and enabling engineering teams to operate with autonomy within a well-defined framework.
- Hands-on cloud experience: architecting, building, deploying, managing databases, compute instances, and storage buckets.
- Prior leadership. Working in cross-functional teams. Comfortable working with executives and technical teams.
- AI familiarity. Experience with AI tools and concepts to make infrastructure decisions within Cloud Operations.
Team leadership. Provided technical guidance, career mentoring, and development. Fostered an environment of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement. - Demonstrates maturity under pressure. Have composure and judgement in operating under ambiguity, communicate effectively in stressful situations, and make decisions without a defined playbook.
- You have a passion for providing solutions through automation. You know that success is through collaboration and communication.
Who you'll be working with:
- Drive resource provisioning and orchestration via IaC.
- Establish and update observability and monitoring metrics for cloud services.
- Partner with our Cyber Security and Compliance teams in enforcing organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Cost optimization. Work with development teams in rightsizing instances and utilizing cloud resources more efficiently.
- Work in cross-functional teams to develop solutions and identify opportunities to bring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Research, evaluate, and incorporate new technologies/concepts into existing frameworks.
- Proactively identify areas to improve efficiency and effectiveness, recommend and implement solutions towards them.
- Develop and innovate operational practices, procedures for workflows, and documentation.
- Context switch between assignments / projects and performing daily tasks.
- Act as a liaison and partner between TechOps and other groups.
- Pick up new responsibilities as required.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years in Cloud or infrastructure leadership at the director or senior manager level.
- Recent hands-on experience (7+ years) as a Cloud Engineer/DevOps/SRE (GCP/AWS/Azure).
- Proven work experience in developing IaC.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts.
- Solid understanding of security concepts.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, Stackdriver).
- Experience with at least one programming and/or scripting language (Go, Python or Bash).
- Skilled in presentation and documentation.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Time and project management skills.
