Senior Partner Engineer
Quick Summary
Our Mission Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit.
Healthcare should work for patients, but it doesn’t. In their time of need, they call down outdated insurance directories. Then wait on hold. Then wait weeks for the privilege of a visit. Then wait in a room solely designed for waiting. Then wait for a surprise bill. In any other consumer industry, the companies delivering such a poor customer experience would not survive. But in healthcare, patients lack market power. Which means they are expected to accept the unacceptable.
Zocdoc’s mission is to give power to the patient. To do that, we’ve built the leading healthcare marketplace that makes it easy to find and book in-person or virtual care in all 50 states, across +200 specialties and +12k insurance plans. By giving patients the ability to see and choose, we give them power. In doing so, we can make healthcare work like every other consumer sector, where businesses compete for customers, not the other way around. In time, this will drive quality up and prices down.
We’re 18 years old and the leader in our space, but we are still just getting started. If you like solving important, complex problems alongside deeply thoughtful, driven, and collaborative teammates, read on.
Zocdoc’s most important asset is our people. As a Senior Partner Engineer you’ll play a meaningful role in executing and improving the process by which partners build on Zocdoc’s public APIs. You will be a trusted technical advisor, elevating implementation quality and turning real-world patterns into reusable accelerators that scale the ecosystem, directly reinforcing Zocdoc’s “developer+” platform evolution. This particular role within Partner Engineering will focus primarily on our large ecosystem of EHR/PMS partners, helping connect and improve the “last mile” of scheduling interoperability.
- Motivated by elevating partner implementation quality and scaling developer ecosystems.
- Autonomous, urgent, and creative. You genuinely love delivering complex, multi-stakeholder solutions across EHRs, providers, and payors.
- Highly technical and strategic, with a knack for turning complex patterns into reusable assets like SDK examples and reference architectures.
- Passionate about mentoring engineers and setting high standards for technical documentation and triage.
- A trusted advisor who can influence API roadmaps with data-driven feedback from the field.
- The kind of person who excels at aligning solution designs with both API capabilities and partner business constraints.
- Serious about your work, but not about yourself. Let’s face it - the way things are going, you kind of need a sense of humor
- Full ownership of solution design for high-impact partner use cases including scheduling, booking, and provider configuration.
- Serving as the technical lead during implementations to define success criteria and cutover strategies.
- Building and fostering relationships with partners by creating high-quality prototypes and POCs that de-risk adoption.
- Staying abreast of latest developments in EHR capabilities and healthcare interoperability.
- Working with cutting edge GenAI tools and technology.
- Mentoring Partner Engineers and partnering with Business Development on standardized handoff patterns.
- An unrelenting desire to build more equitable, inclusive and diverse workplaces. You view this role as an opportunity to create positive change
- Meaningful (6+ years) experience in API-driven engineering, including leading external integrations with partner/customer-facing interactions.
- The ability to integrate generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and maximize productivity
- Deep REST/OAuth expertise and experience designing scaling patterns like webhooks and idempotency.
- Expertise in healthcare interoperability concepts like HL7 FHIR, SMART app launch, and EHR processes.
- A fundamental understanding of systems thinking and stakeholder management across Business Development, Sales, Product Engineering, and Security.
- Integrated generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and maximize productivity
- The mentality of an entrepreneur/owner and a strong bias to action.
- Superb communication skills! You believe in keeping all of your stakeholders in the loop and know that multiple mediums of communication are the key to success
- Humility. You believe in treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure
