The Spend pod is where our relationship with customers is built every day. It's home to our Current Account and Joint Account experiences, helping customers manage their money with confidence every time they open the Zopa app.

As Lead Product Designer, you'll shape the future of these experiences while leading a small team of Product Designers. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking, people leadership and design craft to deliver outstanding customer experiences.

With our native app continuing to evolve and exciting new capabilities on the roadmap, it's an exciting time to join.

  • Set the design direction for Spend, translating product strategy into intuitive customer experiences that deliver real value.
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of Product Designers, creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Stay hands-on, leading design on complex, high-impact initiatives while supporting your team through discovery and delivery.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Researchers to solve customer problems and shape product strategy from the earliest stages.
  • Champion high standards of design craft, accessibility and inclusive design, ensuring quality isn't compromised as we move quickly.
  • Balance customer needs, commercial goals and technical constraints to make thoughtful design decisions and trade-offs.
  • Collaborate across Savings, Borrowing, Platform and Design Systems to create a consistent end-to-end customer experience.
  • Contribute to the growth of the wider Design team through hiring, interview panels, ways of working and design practice.
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate your workflow while maintaining a high bar for quality.
  • You're an experienced Product Designer with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking and exceptional interaction design.
  • You've led or managed designers before and enjoy helping others grow through coaching, feedback and mentoring.
  • You're as comfortable defining strategy as you are crafting polished user experiences yourself.
  • You have experience designing native mobile products, ideally within fintech, banking or another complex consumer product environment.
  • You care deeply about designing for customers in real-world situations and naturally consider accessibility, inclusion and Consumer Duty in your work.
  • You know when to push for the best solution and when to make pragmatic decisions to deliver value quickly.
  • You're an excellent collaborator who builds strong relationships across Product, Engineering and Research.
  • You're comfortable working with design systems and understand how to balance consistency with innovation.
  • Please include in your application a portfolio of work showing your process from challenge to solution and its impact. Ideally your portfolio will show tangible work examples of your different approaches and deliverables. Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you!

    We value face-to-face collaboration and a good work-life balance. This hybrid role requires you to come to our London office 2-3 days a week.
