As a Legal Counsel at Jimdo, you’ll be at the forefront of navigating the legal landscape in a dynamic tech environment. You’ll join a team of tech-savvy legal professionals that partner with the business to launch powerful and trustworthy, safe products. We believe in putting the customer first, making smart risk-based decisions, and playing as a team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the legal framework that supports Jimdo’s innovative products and services and alleviates the mental compliance load of Jimdo’s customers. Partner with all departments to launch products and features in alignment with legal requirements and customer needs.
Track and provide guidance on novel Legal issues impacting Jimdo, including the AI Act, the Data Act as well as the CSRD.
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various contracts, including international SaaS agreements, DPAs and partnership contracts.
Conduct data protection assessments and advise business teams on compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, including data collection and use.
Implement changes to cross-functional processes and procedures in anticipation of regulatory and business developments.
Create and update enablement materials (training, written guidance, shorts/videos) for legal team members and cross-functional stakeholders on current and emerging Legal issues.
A desire to understand our products and a passion for innovation at the intersection of law, tech and business.
You have a “can do” attitude. Our Legal team creates high-quality work on quick timelines.
You take a practical approach to lawyering and are able to balance legal considerations with business objectives, making smart, risk-based decisions.
Excellent ability to simplify complex legal and technical concepts into clear, actionable advice.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with basic business acumen.
Formalities:
Bachelor of Laws or the 1st State Examination (Staatsexamen); an LL.M. in IT/Information Law, Contract Law or Data Law is a plus.
3-5 years of relevant legal experience at a comparable in-house practice, with around 2 years in a tech environment
Strong understanding of German law, with business fluency in both English and German.
Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, Jira and ChatGPT
Nice to have:
Familiarity with any of the following: JURO (or another CLM), Asana, Adobe Pro, Adobe Sign, Canva, Miro, Fides, BeckOnline
Good understanding of a SaaS b2b business model and terminology
First experience with the Legal Design approach
Enthusiastic about AI tools, including ML and LLMs, and their application to Jimdo products.
Knowledgeable in the legal and ethical implications of AI, especially in large language models and machine learning systems.
