We are thrilled to introduce the role of Motion Designer for the Darkroom marketing team. As a core member of our Revenue team (which houses Sales and Marketing for the Darkroom brand), you will be a key ingredient in owning the Darkroom brand and design aesthetic for all marketing communications. Your major responsibility will be working with our Director of Content to grow Darkroom into high double-digit growth YoY.

Our motion designers are trusted experts who bring creative energy and design diligence with a strong foundation in traditional layout and typography skills. Your expertise in motion graphics will elevate our content and captivate our audiences. As a Senior Motion Designer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting captivating motion graphics that enhance storytelling and elevate brand communication across various marketing channels and platforms. Collaborating closely with the Marketing Manager, you will contribute to the brand’s image, deploying the branding and creative concept of the campaign in videos, posts, and animated stories. You will exchange with the content team about stories and with the marketing team about strategies.

This is a fully-remote job and is open to candidates based in Portugal, Brazil, and MexicoCandidates must be available and flexible to support and work from 9 am – 5 pm in the U.S. EST time zone. This is open as a full-time or part-time job.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our marketing team to translate artistic visions into impactful motion graphics for marketing campaigns.
  • Produce high-volume, high-quality visual brainstorming of design direction, ideas, and layouts.
  • Contribute to conceptualizing and storyboarding ideas for motion design projects in collaboration with the creative team.
  • Produce high-quality motion assets for organic social media, the website, paid advertisements, and other needs.
  • Proven understanding and competency working in high-touch creative teams, executing on projects with little direction or oversight.
  • Execute and maintain multiple design systems and style guides to be used across all creative collateral, ensuring consistency of The Darkroom’s brand identity and messaging.
  • Create visually stunning marketing assets ensuring they are on-brand and engaging.
  • Develop a deep understanding of what factors drive converting creative on Darkroom collateral and execute designs within established best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with other creative and marketing team members for daily approvals and feedback to ensure your work adheres to a high standard of craft and accurately reflects the identity of the client brand.
  • Stay updated on design trends, animation tools, and techniques to enhance the quality and innovation of motion design projects. 

Requirements

Hard Skill

  • Proven track record in motion graphics design demonstrated through a strong portfolio of diverse and creative projects.
  • Proven understanding of design principles, including layout, color theory, typography, and composition.
  • Proficient in Figma and Adobe Suite is non-negotiable
  • 5+ years of proven motion design work experience (preferably within an agency or design studio)
  • Fluent in English (Spoken and written, candidate must be proficient in presenting work in English)

Soft Skills

  • Highly creative individual who strives for detail-oriented design and can execute comfortably in a number of styles
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate project requirements into compelling designs
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for detail-oriented deliverables
  • Systematic thinker, who problem solves and time manages without heavy direction
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, set deadlines, and manage resources effectively. 

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of 3D animation and Unity
  • BA or higher degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts preferred
