Job Description

Who We Are

Working at Atra: Center for Rabbinic Innovation means becoming part of a lean, effective, pluralistic and inquisitive team passionate about visionary spiritual leadership and promoting a thriving Jewish future. Atra empowers rabbis to lead with vision and meet the ever-evolving needs of the Jewish people as they drive transformational change for the Jewish community. Atra advances the field of rabbinic leadership through rigorous research, vibrant communities of practice, innovative fellowships and Atra Academy, which offers applied professional training and support for Jewish clergy.

We have had exponential growth in our programs and reach over the past few years, and are entering the last year of our 3-year strategic plan. We are growing as a central platform and network to train and support visionary leadership, career growth, and adaptive practice among rabbinic leaders from every background and denomination while serving as a conduit for evidence-based research and catalyst for impactful programmatic interventions in the field of rabbinic leadership.

Atra is proudly incubated in Assembly (previously known as the Office of Innovation) and fiscally sponsored by Hillel International. This means that while we are not a program of Hillel, Hillel International serves as Atra’s administrative “home.” Atra employees are part of Hillel International’s payroll and benefits program. Our central headquarters are in New York City, and our national team works remotely, with occasional gatherings in-person. Our program team is proximal to New York City, with weekly in-person time in our central offices.

Position

The Program Coordinator is a vital role within our organization, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Programs. This individual will be responsible for coordinating a wide range of programs, including the planning and execution of gatherings, events, and other program-related activities. The Program Coordinator will also oversee the recruitment, registration, and application processes, working to ensure a seamless and positive experience for all program participants. The role is a great opportunity for someone with tremendous attention to detail to contribute to a growing nonprofit organization creating large-scale change in the Jewish community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Programs to plan, implement, and evaluate various programs in line with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate logistics for gatherings, events, workshops, and other program-related activities, ensuring smooth operation and high-quality participant experience.
  • Oversee the recruitment process for all programs including outreach, communication, and engagement strategies to attract a diverse range of participants.
  • Manage the registration and application processes, ensuring they are user-friendly, efficient, and effectively managed.
  • Provide administrative support to program facilitators, faculty, and coaches, including scheduling, program materials, contracts and invoicing, and other needs as they arise.
  • In close collaboration with other team members, implement Atra’s marketing and communications strategies through email, social media, and website updates to effectively reach Atra’s target audience in an impactful way.
  • Monitor and report on program progress and outcomes, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a point of contact for program participants and alumni, addressing inquiries and providing support to ensure a positive and impactful experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Jewish Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or Business. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in program management or coordination, preferably within a nonprofit, Jewish or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse groups of participants and stakeholders.
  • Experience in event planning and logistics, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using technology for program management, including databases, registration platforms, and communication tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment as well as independently.
  • A relationship-driven ethos, consistently centering and fostering interpersonal relationships in all aspects of the work.
  • Passion for the organization’s mission and a commitment to impacting the community positively.
  • Ability and desire to thrive in a start-up environment, where self-reliance, innovation, problem-solving and creative thinking are critical to success.
  • While this is a remote position (with an expectation of attendance at some in-person meetings and programs), there is a strong preference for applicants in the New York City area.
