Job Description
Our client is a professional service firm with a nationwide reach, providing comprehensive advisory services to individuals and businesses in accounting, tax, payroll, and related areas. We are assisting them in their search for a Senior Accountant. This is a part time contract role with 15-20 hours a week.
This part-time role has the potential to transition into a full-time position based on performance and future acquisitions, with the first acquisition expected to be completed in October. The Senior Accountant will manage key accounting tasks, ensure the accuracy of financial records, and coordinate with the accounting team to complete projects efficiently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding accounting-related questions and concerns.
- Liaise with the Senior Tax Accountant to address tax-related inquiries from clients.
- Collaborate closely with the bookkeeper and junior accountant to ensure the timely completion of accounting projects.
- Review and ensure accuracy of work submitted by the bookkeeper and junior accountant.
- Step in to assist with bookkeeping or junior-level accounting tasks if team members are unavailable due to illness or other circumstances.
- Monitor project timelines, identify potential issues, and take over responsibilities when necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members, helping to resolve complex accounting issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Send a weekly status report to the CEO detailing project progress and any issues that need attention.
Requirements
- CPA certification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
