Join us as a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer (m/f/d) in our Vehicle Foundation team on a shared journey that matters!
To make the vision of an autonomously driving mobility service a reality the teams in our Vehicle Integration domain develop the applications and tools needed to enable autonomous passenger management within our MOIA vehicles in a world without a driver: How do passengers authenticate themselves in an autonomous vehicle? How do we ensure a safe cabin during boarding and the ride? Which content should be displayed on the vehicle screens to provide a safe and informative user experience for the passenger?
The Vehicle Foundation team boosts the vehicle feature development process for the feature teams working in our domain by providing platform functionality. We develop modern automated solutions for hardware and software platforms by covering tooling, observability, security, and provisioning. Additionally, wekeep and maintain stable in-vehicle features and connectivity suited to the ridepooling experience for passengers and the fleet of the existing MOIA system.
The team has the necessary roles to take full responsibility for the given value streams: from backend and embedded developers to quality specialists, cyber security experts and product owners. Join the team if you want to solve these challenges in an agile and customer-driven environment.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain the in-vehicle platform running on our ECU.
- Work on the full embedded software stack, ranging from the OS to the applications layer
- Extend and improve existing monitoring systems used to track the state of our fleet
- Interface with VW Group, vendors, and other partners to align on software interfaces, tooling, and hardware
- Support the team with expert knowledge and guidance in embedded engineering, mentor colleagues in your field of expertise and provide direction if needed as part of your daily work
- Shape and contribute to our development processes regarding automotive standards
- Be part of the full development life cycle, from design to implementation, quality assurance, and maintenance
- Work in a bottom-up managed, autonomous, cross-functional team together with other talented engineers
What will help you to fulfill your role
- You have working knowledge of C++ 11/14 or later, Python, Bash
- You have working knowledge of Yocto or other embedded Linux build systems. Ideally, you also have experience with embedded QNX and/or Android
- You have a DevOps mindset and in-depth knowledge of Docker
- You are familiar with some of the utilized communication protocols like MQTT and SOME/IP
- You are familiar with SiL and HiL testing integrated into CI/CD
- You have a good understanding of AUTOSAR-based E/E Architecture
- You worked in industries with high reliability and quality demands (automotive, medical, aerospace, or similar), for example with ASPICE, ISO26262, homologation
- You can work proactively and independently in an agile cross-functional team, lead initiatives, align with external stakeholders, and be a team player. This involves regular alignment with internal/external teams, code reviews, pair programming, and giving and receiving feedback
- You are open to visiting the Hamburg office & hub once per month to spend some time with the team and our partners
