Senior Firmware Engineer | Hudl | Remote (Netherlands)
Job Description
Building a team starts with valuing the team. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of Newsweek’s Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces in 2023.
We also value sports. Not just because of the big wins and highlight-worthy plays, but because of the lasting impact sports can have: the lifelong lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring mentors; the priceless opportunities to play at the next level. Sports can change lives—that’s what we value.
Our team helps the world see sports differently through products that make it easier to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and do a lot more.
Ready to join us?
Your Role
Our goal is to change the way coaches, athletes and analysts prepare for and stay ahead of the competition. Whether it’s with video, data or a combination of the two, we want our tools to help every step of the way. Our products are used by the world’s elite sports teams, as well as grassroots amateur teams.
We’re looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join us and work on one of Hudl’s most innovative new products: Hudl Focus. These products are autonomous cameras that utilise edge AI to automatically track the action and upload to the cloud, offering our customers seamless access to vital, real-time video and insights.
The main responsibilities of the position are:
- Leading technically. You’ll set an example for others in planning, designing, and delivering complex projects.
- Owning the problem. You will work in an autonomous squad that has the freedom and expertise to deliver the best solution.
- Powering our next generation of devices. Your team is responsible for turning early prototypes into fully functioning devices. You will get to work on the low-level components powering the full stack of the device.
For this role, we’re currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our offices in Den Bosch. But with our flexible work policy, there aren’t any current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.
Must-Haves
- Experience in embedded systems. Have 8+ years experience in building, supporting, and extending board support packages for hardware solutions powered by Linux.
- Experience in complex systems development. You have deep experience in building, supporting, and extending production software with high quality. You have solid embedded C/C++ and embedded Linux skills.
- Excited by low level software and hardware interaction. You are eager to experiment with new components and modules, test the limits of what’s possible, and build embedded systems.
- A user focus. You are excited to have your work used by real people to solve real problems.
Nice-to-Haves
- Rust and VHDL experience. You have some exposure to these languages.
- Knowledge of wired and wireless communication protocols. You’re familiar with areas such as PCIe, I2C, UART, MIPI (wired) and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G/5G (wireless).
Our Role
- Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
- Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
- Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
- Provide an environment to help you succeed. We’ve invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
- Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.
