JOB TITLE: Senior QA Engineer
REPORTING TO: Test Manager
LOCATION: Remote
ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a great opportunity to define and establish yourself in a key role within Medefer. The role has been created to manage and develop the delivery of five-star services to our clients and key stakeholders. You will ensure that our clients’ experiences of the Medefer pathway is the best it can be, that service level agreements and individual key performance indicators are set and delivered, and that we learn from feedback and continuously improve how we operate.
The successful candidate will thrive on responsibility, assert what needs to be done and by when, and provide leadership to colleagues in the product team and the broader company, and drive us all to provide the best service possible with the resources available.
The successful candidate will need to be capable of leading colleagues through change. There will be new challenges at every turn and success will involve bringing everyone through the changes necessary to radically improve patient care across the service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advising Projects of the test scope needed and guidance on testing best practices
- Completing the test assurance of third-party development deliveries from a testing perspective
- Reviewing & contributing to technical designs and requirements from a testing perspective
- Facilitating workshops among the test team and kick off calls for the start of testing phases
- Managing triage calls and defects for projects
- Collaborate & communicate effectively with colleagues
- Analyse and identify the best automated tool that suits the business & engineering needs
- Create and design Automated testing scripts using BDD frameworks across the tech stack to ensure stability and scalability
- Develop and execute test plans using existing /new frameworks
- Analyse data in SQL server to identify potential issues
- Ensure test automation design fits existing and new requirements and has a high level of test coverage
- Analyse automation test results and raise defect whereever applicable
- Work alongside the development teams and other stakeholdesr to resolve the cycle time of testing
- Report on automation results and progress on activity
- Accurate recording of test results & maintaining logs of results in relevant systems
- Escalating to the head of engineering or programme managers the key risks and issues in achieving the delivery timelines
- Hands on test preparation and executions of scenarios and scripts
- Set up exemplar test KPI dashboards that can be used by our delivery partners; set up consolidated dashboards with platform and enterprise view of QA health
- Adopt the organisation culture of professionalism, integrity, effectiveness and dynamic that contributes to an internal environment of teamwork and promote a positive brand image and experience to our external stakeholders
- Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the talent management or HR team and ensure you keep up to date development in these areas
- Key person to focus on driving change, removing impediments, and putting the team first as an enabler
- Should be a supportive and knowledgeable leader to help people grow in test knowledge and possess excellent communication skills to communicate the technical specification in functional terms to the business
- Should have passion for continuous improvement and taking ownership
- Experience and knowledge of data governance with strong understanding of data dependencies
- Working in partnership with key teams to help deliver exceptional value to our clients and wider business, enabling better decision-making as well as supporting the delivery of strategy and performance.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
- A love of healthcare and a genuine interest in technology
- Certified ISTQB Basic / Advanced
- Hands on experience in identifying automation tools and writing up scripts
- Experience of testing transactional websites and API
- Demonstrate experience as an automation tester
- Experience with JavaScript and C#
- Strong Oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate with both technical and nontechnical members
- Should have worked on Agile software development best-practice methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or similar
- Strong working experience knowledge of STLC cycle

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS AND KEY TERMS:
- 35 hours per week, typically between 8.00am to 4.00pm, 9.00am to 5.00pm or 10.00am to 6.00pm
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- A relevant level DBS check will be requested at the point of offer, and this is funded by Medefer.
- Subject to two satisfactory employment references, one being the most recent employer.
- Copies of relevant qualifications should be shared prior to the commencement of employment (if applicable).
- This is a permanent position being offered on a full-time basis.
