Job Description

About us

Remo is building the new standard of dementia care. As a virtual dementia care provider, our expert clinical team designs personalized, comprehensive care around patient and family needs (instead of a one-size-fits-all approach). We empower family caregivers by connecting them with a vibrant community of other caregivers, expert content, and tools to manage the entire dementia journey – from anywhere, at any time. Our mission is simple — to provide accessible, comprehensive, quality dementia care for every person who needs it.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer II, Provider Experience at Remo, you’ll be the technical leader of a team focused on crafting the most supportive and empowering experience for caregivers and patients using our platform. You’ll design and build the features that help families navigate the complexities of dementia care, providing them with the resources, connections, tools, and the quality care they need to thrive. Your work will directly improve the lives of caregivers and the patients they care for, playing a crucial role in our mission to transform dementia care.

What you’ll be doing

  • A typical day will include writing code, working with autonomy to make critical technology choices, reviewing your peers’ code, and providing technical mentorship to fellow engineers.
  • Own deliverables and pursue them with a sense of urgency while identifying roadblocks, mitigating risks, and suggesting course corrections when appropriate.
  • Build scalable systems by designing, developing, and maintaining highly scalable, reliable solutions that support our growing user base and evolving healthcare needs.
  • Champion this population by playing a critical role in shaping the technical vision for our caregiver and patient-facing products, translating needs into innovative features and solutions.
  • Build empathetic solutions by designing, developing, and maintaining user-friendly, accessible interfaces and tools that cater to the unique needs of caregivers and patients.
  • Foster community and connection by creating features that enable caregivers and patients to connect with one another, share experiences, and build a supportive network.
  • Empower caregivers with information and resources by integrating our educational content, personalized care plans, and practical tools into a seamless, intuitive experience.
  • Prioritize privacy and security by implementing robust security measures and adhere to data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) to protect sensitive information.
  • Solve complex healthcare problems by engineering resilient and performant solutions to address unique challenges in healthcare technology, especially as it pertains to our core mission of improving dementia care.
  • Deliver high-quality features that utilize our core tech stack (React, TypeScript, Next.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL) to create impactful features that directly improve the caregiver and patient experience and their ability to receive the best care possible.
  • Prioritize security and implement industry-standard security practices to safeguard sensitive patient data.
  • Design and implement automated tests (end-to-end, performance, load, security) to maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering leadership team to define architectural principles, frameworks, and standards to ensure consistency across the organization.

What we’re looking for

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of building web applications in healthcare.
  • Strong expertise in the technologies that we use (React, TypeScript, Next.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL) and a strong understanding of user experience and design principles.
  • Experience building full-stack user facing features for web applications while prioritizing performance optimization and security.
  • Proficiency and strong knowledge of HL7 FHIR and integrating with EHR / EMR systems.
  • Experience leading technical design discussions and providing guidance on best practices, coding standards, and architecture principles.
  • Experience building full-stack user facing features for web applications while prioritizing performance optimization.
  • Experience designing and implementing both REST and GraphQL APIs, as well as PostgreSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and health data privacy standards (HIPAA or HITRUST) is a plus.
