Who You Are:

The Software Engineer (Platform API) is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and testing new products and features for high-volume APIs and core back-end services. This role involves working with a dynamic tech stack, including Python, AWS, and various databases, in a collaborative and open environment.

Key Performance Responsibilities:

Product Development:

  • Design, develop, deploy, and test new products and features for our APIs.
  • Take on full product roadmap items and deliver high-quality results on time.

Performance Indicators:

  • High-quality, well-tested API products and features delivered.
  • Timely completion of product roadmap items.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Participate in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while maintaining a good work ethic and a humble attitude.
  • Work effectively within the team, adopting existing practices and recommending improvements as needed.

Performance Indicators:

  • Strong collaboration and effective communication within the team.
  • Successful adoption and improvement of team practices.

Technical Problem-Solving:

  • Work with various data sources, evaluating the pros and cons of MySQL, DynamoDB, S3, ElasticSearch, etc.
  • Use Terraform to build out infrastructure and solve technical problems at a large scale.

Performance Indicators:

  • Effective technical problem-solving and infrastructure management.
  • Efficient use of data sources and infrastructure tools.

Continuous Learning and Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of professional experience delivering high-quality production software.
    • Working knowledge of Python and Linux.
    • Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres) and non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB, ElasticSearch).
    • Experience with a version control system, preferably Git.
  • Skills:
    • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
    • Proficiency in designing and developing APIs.
    • Experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, MySQL, ElastiCache, ECS) is a plus.
    • Experience with an MVC web framework (e.g., Django, Ruby on Rails, Pyramid) is a plus.
    • Experience with front-end development (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
    • Knowledge of Golang is a plus.
