About the Travel Inventory Team
You’ll help our Travel team to build and ship our SaaS based white-label platform to our fintech, banking and airline partners! Our Travel platform (termed TravelEdge) enables our partners to roll out a fully customisable, self-serve travel platform (hotels, flights, cars), allowing their customers to earn or use their loyalty points on travel bookings.
The Travel Platform team deals not only with maintaining our configurable SaaS web platform, but also with our high scale supplier inventory platform aggregating content from multiple suppliers. The Travel Platform team builds mainly in Ruby and Elixir in the backend, and, TypeScript (Angular & React) for our frontends.
About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer with the team you will:
Scope & lead large technical projects and architecture that will have massive impact in Ascenda & our numerous clients.
Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability.
Own problems from end to end, managing complexity and engaging directly with other Engineering teams, Technical Project Management etc to think through everything from business impact, to reliability and operability, to the ease of integration, and the expressiveness of our Data strategy & Events architecture
Serve as a role model for high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter.
You’re a passionate problem solver: Weighing up pros and cons of new tech solutions before implementing them with your team.
Teach and mentor ICs and managers to become the next generation of experts at Ascenda
What we’re looking for
Strong technical background, with prior experience in similar roles such as Tech Lead or Staff level engineering roles.
Experience building large-scale, high throughput distributed systems on the Cloud. Hands on experience with designing, building and operating event-driven architectures. Experience in building & maintaining SaaS Billing systems a bonus
Deep experience in backend programming languages such as Ruby, Golang, or any other relevant languages. 7+ years experience in building backends that interact with SPA frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, etc. Prior experience with our stack (Ruby, Elixir, Angular) would be a bonus
Have experience participating in technical roadmaps/RFCs to communicate technical strategy and resolve architectural problems. Have experience mentoring and coaching your junior engineers.
You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the organization
You are passionate about efficiency, availability, technical quality and system quality.
At least 7 years in development experience. Prior experience in the travel technology industry is a bonus
Prior experience building configurable UX, or developing BFF (backend-for-frontend) stacks at scale is a bonus.
