This role is well‑suited to Occupational Therapists who value independence without isolation—and who want flexibility that is real, not just promised, for OTs balancing other clinical work, family commitments, or professional pursuits.
Caseload Area
We are currently recruiting two part‑time/casual Occupational Therapists to support an adult community caseload under secure Ministry funding. Services are provided in clients’ homes within the following areas:
- Markham
- Richmond Hill
- Maple
- Vaughan
- Newmarket
- Georgina (including Keswick, Sutton, and Pefferlaw)
You will have the opportunity to work within geographic areas that best align with your availability and travel preferences.
Responsibilities Include:
- Completing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments focused on functional abilities, activities of daily living (ADLs/IADLs), home environment, safety, and available support systems
- Assessing home environments to identify safety risks and recommending strategies and environmental modifications to reduce falls, improve accessibility, and support safe independence at home
- Developing and implementing individualized, evidence‑based intervention plans aligned with best practice, client‑centred goals, and SMART outcomes
- Recommending, trialing, and providing training in the use of assistive devices, mobility aids, transfer equipment, and home safety equipment, as appropriate
- Facilitating short‑term trials of home safety or mobility equipment when required and supporting follow‑up recommendations
- Providing education and hands‑on training to clients, families, and caregivers on safe mobility, transfers, daily care strategies, and energy conservation techniques
- Supporting clients and caregivers to maintain independence, safety, and confidence in the home while reducing the risk of injury or functional decline
- Assisting eligible clients with Assistive Devices Program (ADP) applications and navigating other relevant funding or community resources
- Collaborating closely with clients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, meaningful care
- Monitoring, evaluating, and documenting client progress; adjusting intervention plans as needed; and completing timely, accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
- Two (2) years of Occupational Therapy experience preferred but not required
- Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
- ADP Authorizer status preferred but not required. Support will be provided to obtain authorization if requested
- Access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Professional liability insurance
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check within 1 year of start with 1to1
