Requirements
~1 min readThe Manager, HRBP & Labor Relations is a key member of the Shared Development Studios (SDS) North America HR team, reporting to the Sr. Manager, HRBP. This role serves as a strategic and operational HR partner across a diverse portfolio of client groups spanning our Motion Capture Studio, Research & Insights, and Global Services functions — a combined population that is dynamic, distributed, and central to how SDS delivers for our studios.
Labor relations is a meaningful part of this role. You will be the primary HR point of contact for our unionized MoCap workforce and the go-to resource for CBA interpretation and compliance across the organization. But this is a full HRBP role, not a pure LR role — we're looking for someone who brings both the relationship-building instincts of a great business partner and the technical grounding to navigate a union environment with confidence.
This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area, with regular travel to our Petaluma studio.
Responsibilities

- →Serve as the day-to-day HR partner for client groups across MoCap, Research & Insights, and Global Services, building trusted relationships with managers and employees at all levels.
- →Partner with leaders on org health, workforce planning, talent development, and employee engagement across a varied and distributed population.
- →Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance, development, and team effectiveness.
- →Develop recruiting strategies with hiring managers; liaise with recruiters to provide context on staffing needs, role fit, and budget guidance.
- →Partner with HR COEs and the broader HRBP team to deliver seamless HR programs and processes across the organization.
Labor Relations
- →Serve as the primary HR lead for the MoCap Studio's unionized workforce, owning the day-to-day relationship with union representatives and ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- →Handle routine labor relations inquiries related to policies, procedures, and CBA interpretation; escalate and coordinate with legal and COEs on complex grievances, mediations, or arbitrations.
- →Investigate and help resolve grievances, work complaints, and employee relations matters in alignment with the CBA and company policy.
- →Support contract negotiations by collecting data on pay, benefits, working conditions, and relevant precedents; assist with preparation of required documentation.
- →Maintain current knowledge of applicable labor law, regulations, and best practices; serve as an internal resource for the broader HRBP team on LR matters.
Program Delivery
- →Drive adoption and execution of key HR program cycles including performance feedback, compensation planning, promotions, job leveling, and annual workforce planning across your client groups.
- →Manage headcount tracking and support the Global Services ticketing and workforce management processes.
- →Partner with People Ops to ensure clean routing of transactional HR work so HRBP capacity stays focused on strategic and employee-facing support.
- 5+ years of HR experience, with meaningful exposure to both HRBP partnership and labor relations or employee relations in a complex environment
- Experience supporting unionized or represented employee populations; CBA administration experience strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills — you build trust quickly and hold it
- Strong analytical and problem-solving instincts; comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organization, from frontline employees to senior leaders
- Working knowledge of applicable labor and employment law
- Willingness to travel regularly to our Petaluma studio
- Gaming industry experience a plus; shared services or matrixed org experience a plus

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,200.00 and $148,320.00 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
