Position: Youth Engagement & Inclusion Liaison

Number of Hours: 37.5hrs/week

Salary range: $26/hr - $27/hr

Contract term: Immediate start through March 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on performance. 



Job Summary:



Reporting to the Program Coordinator, Strategic Youth Initiatives, the Youth Engagement & Inclusion Liaison supports the delivery of youth-led community initiatives, anti-racism, equity and intercultural learning activities, and youth and alumni engagement. The position facilitates interactive learning and youth engagement activities, provides guidance to youth in developing and implementing community initiatives, and supports program events, outreach, stakeholder engagement, and participant referrals. The position also contributes to program administration, documentation, evaluation, and ongoing participant support.


Duties and Responsibilities



1. Program Planning and Implementation 

Youth Led Community Initiatives

  • Support the day-to-day implementation of youth-led community initiatives under the direction of the Program Coordinator.
  • Prepare project materials, activity plans, schedules, participant communications, and other resources required for program delivery.
  • Facilitate youth engagement sessions and project development training to support youth in identifying community issues, developing project ideas, and implementing their initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to youth in project planning, teamwork, communication, leadership, and other relevant project and soft skills.
  • Identify emerging participant needs, challenges, and opportunities and communicate them to the Program Coordinator.

Anti-Racism, Equity and Intercultural Learning Session

  • Facilitate interactive sessions on anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and intercultural understanding for children, youth, and other stakeholders.
  • Create inclusive learning environments and adapt facilitation approaches to participants’ backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs.
  • Coordinate session logistics, including scheduling, materials, participant communication, and setup.

Event Planning

  • Support the planning and delivery of key program events; Impact Sharing Event, Youth Forum, Indigenous Connection events, networking opportunities, and other youth and alumni engagement activities.
  • Assist with event logistics, participant and stakeholder communication, preparation of materials, registration, and follow-up.
  • Support youth and alumni participation in events, including presentations, sharing of project experiences, networking, and community engagement.



2. Program Promotion and Outreach

  • Support outreach, promotion, and participant recruitment for assigned programs, activities
  • Support participant registration, including collecting and maintaining accurate participant information.
  • Respond to program inquiries and provide accurate information to prospective participants and families.
  • Attend community events, school meetings, and stakeholder gatherings to promote program activities, strengthen partnerships, and represent AHC in a professional and engaging manner.

 


3. Stakeholders' engagement and partnership

  • Maintain positive relationships with schools, community organizations, youth-serving agencies, cultural communities, and other program stakeholders.
  • Assist the Coordinator in identifying opportunities for collaboration, referrals, mentorship, guest speakers, and other stakeholder involvement.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings, community events, and stakeholder gatherings as assigned to share program information and strengthen connections.
  • Promote awareness of program activities, youth achievements, and success stories among stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Collaborate with other AHC programs to support referrals, joint activities, and coordinated services for youth.
  • Support stakeholder involvement in youth-led initiatives, events, forums, and other program activities as appropriate.

 


4. Program Administration, Monitoring and Other Duties

  • Track attendance, participation, activities, and program outcomes and ensure timely and accurate data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Prepare and submit monthly activity updates, including program highlights, challenges, participant achievements, and success stories, to the Program Coordinator.
  • Collect feedback from participants, families, alumni, and other stakeholders to support program evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain organized program records and documentation.
  • Ensure participant information is handled securely and in accordance with confidentiality and privacy requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, planning sessions, and other organizational activities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications required

  • Post-secondary education in community development, child and youth care, education, social work, sociology, human services, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of anti-racism, equity, inclusion, and intercultural approaches, and their application in youth and community settings.
  • Experience with community outreach, participant recruitment, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, events, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage participants from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned responsibilities while working collaboratively under the direction of the Program Coordinator.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and online communication and recordkeeping tools.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for program activities and events.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work required based on program activities and events.
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring strong organization, attention to detail, and a high standard of work.
  • Primarily in-person office and community-based work
  • A current Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, and Intervention Record Check, completed within the previous six (6) months, is required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence, clean driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle are required, as regular travel to program and community locations throughout the greater Edmonton area is expected.
