Job Summary
Coordinates district-wide implementation of various summative and periodic assessments. Keeps abreast of state assessment initiatives and participates in all applicable meetings and professional development. Oversees and coordinates the work of staff responsible for the implementation and support of the District’s assessment programs.
Essential Functions
• Coordinates, implements and monitors state and federal summative and periodic assessment programs in the School District of Philadelphia which includes but is not limited to Accessing Comprehension and Communication in English State to State for English Language Learners (ACCESS for ELLs), Algebra Proficiency Examination for eighth grade students, and pre- and post-assessment of Supplemental Educational Services (SES) for students receiving tutoring from outside providers.
• Gathers input from educators to improve the assessment programs.
• Coordinates and delivers the training of school testing coordinators in test administration and approved testing practices.
• Coordinates assessment logistics, including the timely distribution of and collection of test materials and results.
• Reports and investigates test security violations.
• Attends the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s presentations to be aware of new developments in assessment and related topics.
Minimum Requirements
• Master’s degree at an accredited college or university.
• Seven years of full-time, paid, professional education experience, five years of which have involved evaluating assessment practices and coordinating assessment strategies with appropriate personnel in an urban school district and has involved program support for academic programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
○ educational assessment methodologies and procedures which are applied to assessment development.
○ assessments used for the elementary, middle or high schools.
○ statistical methods used to develop assessments.
○ Microsoft Office software applications used to create or maintain databases and design reports.
○ academic standards and curriculum frameworks.
○ supervisory methods and procedures.
○ assessment-related issues in an urban setting.
Demonstrated ability to:
○ develop and coordinate assessment activities to support the District’s assessment programs.
○ plan and implement professional development programs related to assessments.
○ interpret and evaluate statistical data.
○ develop timelines for projects and follow from inception to completion.
○ implement statewide initiatives in the District.
○ report and investigate test security violations.
○ proactively identify key issues and take necessary steps to resolve problems.
○ use a personal computer.
○ communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
○ establish and maintain effective working relationships.
