OtherIt Engineer

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.

Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.

We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.

As a Senior IT Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain automation solutions that reduce manual IT overhead, improve system reliability, and enforce compliance across the enterprise SaaS and application ecosystem. You will execute on complex integration and workflow automation projects independently, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate closely with the Staff Engineer and IT leadership to deliver high-impact solutions at scale.

This role operates within a HIPAA-compliant, SOC 2-audited environment and requires a strong engineering foundation paired with practical experience in enterprise IT contexts.

  • API & Systems Integration: Build and maintain reliable integrations between enterprise systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.

  • Identity & Access Management: Implement and maintain automated IAM processes — including role-based access control (RBAC), least-privilege enforcement, and access review automation — in alignment with compliance requirements.

  • ITSM Automation: Automate ticket routing, lifecycle management, and CMDB updates within the IT service management platform.

  • Compliance Automation: Develop automated controls and evidence collection pipelines that support SOC 2 and HIPAA audit requirements.

  • Documentation & Collaboration: Produce clear technical documentation for all automation solutions and actively participate in architecture and code reviews.

  • Programming Proficiency: Proficient in Python or an equivalent modern scripting/programming language used for automation and backend logic.

  • API Fluency: Strong working experience with REST APIs; ability to evaluate API documentation and build reliable integrations independently.

  • SaaS Platform Knowledge: Hands-on familiarity with administering and automating major enterprise SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Okta, or similar).

  • IAM Fundamentals: Working knowledge of identity lifecycle management, SSO, SCIM provisioning, and RBAC concepts.

  • Database Skills: Comfort querying and managing relational databases (SQL required).

  • Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with SOC 2 or HIPAA requirements as they relate to IT controls and access management.

  • Communication: Able to clearly communicate technical work and trade-offs to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
