Retail Community Leader

Absolute Pets is looking for a Retail Community Leader who will be responsible for leading the day-to-day retail operations while helping to transform the store into a thriving community destination.
The Retail Community Lead is a proactive and creative individual who takes ownership of local store initiatives and customer experiences. This role combines operational excellence with community engagement to create a store that customers choose to visit not only to shop but also to connect with the Absolute Pets brand and fellow pet parents.
1. Key Responsibilities
- Achieve store sales and GP targets
- Visual merchandising management
- Showing what world-class service looks like and help others to provide world-class service
- Ensuring the store is fully stocked and order placed accordingly
- Execute all admin duties fully and efficiently
- Limit stock loss and shrinkage to below target levels
- Execute admin efficiently and completely
- Oversee and responsible for admin functions
- Management of all staff so that they are performing what is expected of them
- Proud brand ambassador: Leading by example
- Have expert knowledge of all products, imparting that knowledge to all staff
- Developing self and team by pursuing own development and growth using the Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Act in accordance with the Absolute Pets culture and values
Community Engagement & Experience
- Plan and coordinate local store initiatives that encourage customer engagement and repeat visits.
- Make the most of the unique dog park location by creating engaging in-store and community experiences.
- Support activities that strengthen customer relationships and build loyalty to the Absolute Pets brand.
- Build positive relationships with local pet owners, community groups and relevant organisations.
- Assist in planning and coordinating a calendar of local store activities throughout the year.
- Represent Absolute Pets positively within the local community and promote responsible pet ownership.
2. Skills and requirements - Grade 12 (Matric)
- 1-2 years in a leadership or people management role
- Creative mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and grow sales.
- Experience with pets and/or within the pet industry.
- Able to plan and coordinate multiple activities while maintaining day-to-day store operations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Valid drivers license and own reliable transport.
