Head of Legal and Company Secretary

The Head of Legal and Company Secretary at Access Bank Rwanda will be responsible for overseeing all legal compliance, governance, and corporate secretarial functions within the Rwandan regulatory environment. This pivotal leadership position requires a proactive, knowledgeable individual to ensure the bank’s activities align with local laws and international best practices, supporting Access Bank Rwanda’s strategic goals through robust legal counsel and risk management.

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification (such as an Advocate of the High Court of Rwanda) is an advantage.
• At least 10 years of experience in legal practice, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the banking or financial services sector, preferably in Rwanda or the East African region.
• Thorough understanding of Rwandan banking laws, corporate governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in managing legal risks and providing sound legal counsel to executive management and boards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to address complex legal issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals.
• Required experience as legal counsel and company secretary.
