Responsibilities • Provide in-school nursing services to students ages 5-21 with vision impairments, including students with multiple disabilities and deaf-blindness. • Document pertinent information in student charts and other designated records. • Follow the school's Health Center Protocol Manual and established nursing procedures. • Administer first aid and emergency first aid to students and, when appropriate under school guidelines, staff. • Administer physician-prescribed medications and treatments within the applicable nursing scope of practice. • Apply knowledge of medication dosages and side effects and accurately record medications and treatments. • Schedule student appointments, obtain relevant records, and escort students to appointments as required. • Attend student functions and job-related educational programs as required. • Report findings requiring further attention to the appropriate supervisor. • Work under the supervision of the school's Registered Nurse. • Complete orientation with the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent before services begin and work directly with designated school leadership. • Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents. • Maintain confidentiality of student health information and comply with applicable privacy requirements. • Maintain required nursing licensure in good standing throughout the assignment. • Perform other duties as assigned.
