JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Obstetrics & Gynecology Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Petersburg, Virginia Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Sep 04, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Varied; Clinic (no call): 8:30a-3p; Call: 24-hour (7a-7a) with clinic 9:30a-2:30p Call Type: In-House Call Ratio: 1:4 Reason for Coverage: Provider out for personal time Callback Rate: <1 per 24-hour shift Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered COVERAGE DATES September 2026: 4-6, 10, 14, 18-20, 24, 28 October 2026: 5, 12, 16-18, 22, 26 Ongoing dates TBD PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adult women (OB/GYN) Average Daily Volume: ~20 patients per clinic day Admissions: 2-3 nursery admissions per day Rounding: Included Phone Consults: Yes Case Mix: C-section, vaginal deliveries, suction D&C, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, abnormal bleeding; MFM handles high-risk patients FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 9 L&D + 20 postpartum (29 total) EMR System: EPIC Specialty Backup Available: OBHG hospitalist, surgical assistants, MFM Support Staff Available: OBHG hospitalist, surgical assistants, 3-4 nurses each shift PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (clean background required) Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES C-sections Vaginal deliveries Suction D&C Ectopic pregnancies management Ovarian torsion management Abnormal bleeding management JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified – ABOG (REQUIRED) Licenses: Active VA License (REQUIRED); Active VA DEA and CSR (REQUIRED) DEA: Active VA DEA (REQUIRED) Certifications: ABOG, BLS (REQUIRED) Experience: Minimum 50 deliveries and 15 C-sections in the last 12 months (REQUIRED) Other Qualifications: Clean background/no malpractice required for temporary privileges; Self-query NPBD report required at presentation; Must be able to cover call; Must be able to cover dates listed in job Duties & Responsibilities Provide 24-hour call coverage for OB/GYN services including L&D and postpartum care Perform C-sections, vaginal deliveries, and other obstetric procedures as needed Round on hospitalized patients in the morning prior to clinic Provide clinic coverage seeing approximately 20 patients per day Manage emergent gynecological cases including ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and abnormal bleeding
