  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. 
  • Stays current with evolving MR safety standards and participating in ongoing education to support departmental safety culture.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Provides education and support related to MR safety, including device clearance processes, conditional implant screening, and staff training.
  • Leads or participates in MRI safety incident investigations, performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions when applicable. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
