~1 min readAs an MRI Technologist, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging while helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout their care experience.

The MRI Technologist performs high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures that support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. This role safely positions patients, operates MRI equipment, administers IV contrast when appropriate, and delivers compassionate patient care while maintaining compliance with MRI safety standards, departmental policies, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities

Perform high-quality MRI examinations according to physician orders, departmental protocols, and quality standards.

Position, move, and assist patients safely to obtain exceptional diagnostic images while promoting patient comfort.
- →
Educate patients and family members regarding MRI procedures, contrast administration, and safety precautions to promote understanding and reduce anxiety.

Conduct comprehensive MRI safety screening before each examination.

Prepare and administer IV contrast in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols while monitoring patients for adverse reactions.

Select appropriate MRI coils, positioning devices, and imaging techniques to optimize image quality.

Monitor patient condition throughout imaging procedures and respond appropriately within the scope of practice.

Complete accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and imaging systems.
- →
Maintain MRI exam rooms by ensuring they remain clean, stocked, organized, and ready for patient care while performing routine equipment cleaning and safety checks.

Communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.

Maintain patient confidentiality while complying with HIPAA, AdventHealth policies, and local, state, and federal regulations.

Maintain required certifications, licensure, annual education, and departmental competencies.
Knowledge of MRI procedures, equipment, and imaging protocols
Knowledge of MRI safety principles and patient screening
Ability to independently perform MRI procedures while producing exceptional image quality
IV contrast administration and basic IV skills
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and general physics
Excellent customer service and patient care skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
Ability to prioritize work and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
PACS experience preferred
Knowledge of imaging computer systems and networking
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in conversational English
Commitment to maintaining required certifications, continuing education, and professional competencies
