  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and departments to guide and implement risk reduction strategies and physician-related quality improvement processes consistent with established safety principles.

  • Improves consistent delivery of evidence-based care and reduces preventable harm by focusing on reliability and applying principles of a highly reliable organization.

  • Nurtures a culture of safety and high reliability through analyzing Safety Culture data, supporting psychological safety, and learning systems.

  • Identifies and reports occurrences with potential claims to the Director of Risk Management per established protocol.

  • Leads and coordinates proactive and reactive patient safety initiatives, including root cause analysis, failure mode effect analysis, and significant event review.

  • Analyzes processes, significant events, and data to develop appropriate risk reduction strategies and process improvement initiatives.

  • Assists in the design, development, methodologies, and tools for quality processes, decision making, advanced analytics, and planning related to patient safety.

  • Develops evidence-based education for employees and providers on pertinent Risk Management and Patient Safety issues identified through tracking and trending of events and root cause analysis.

  • Ensures Patient Safety and Risk Management activities and processes comply with the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act.

  • Utilizes knowledge of evidence-based practices and literature to develop and implement provider-based initiatives supporting the Organizational Vision, Clinical Excellence, and the Patient Safety Plan.

  • Participates in assigned medical group committees related to safety, quality of clinical care, and patient experience.

  • Engages key stakeholders to establish patient safety metrics and embed safety principles to create a highly reliable organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills [Required]

  • Understand medical technology, terminology medical procedures/treatments, their usual risks, and expected outcomes [Required]

  • Ability to build relationships and facilitate multidisciplinary groups. [Required]

  • Ability to prioritize a diverse workload and possess the ability to work under pressure and deadlines. [Required]

  • Possesses strong knowledge of Federal Legislation and State Statutes relevant to Risk Management and Patient Safety activities (i.e. PSQIA) [Required]

  • Ability to research, prepare comprehensive reports, and recommend and implement successful strategies. [Required]

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [Required]

  • Hospital and/or Medical Group operational knowledge [Preferred]

  • Healthcare supervisory experience [Preferred]

  • Proficiency in Cerner, Athena, and Risk Management Software [Preferred]

  • Bachelor's [Required]

  • N/A

  • 2+ experience in a healthcare-related field [Required]

  • Previous experience in Risk Management [Preferred]

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR 6+ years of related experience [Required]

  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) [Preferred]

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) [Preferred]

  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Preferred]

  • Six Sigma [Preferred]
