What We Offer
~1 min readShift: Days - Mon- Friday 8-430
- Supports the administration of the radiation safety program, including compliance with regulatory agencies, staff training, and supervision of radioactive source handling and disposal.
- Performs dosimetric calculations for external beam, brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapy, ensuring accurate treatment planning and delivery.
- Supervises medical physicist assistants or medical physics residents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and professional standards.
- Conducts weekly chart reviews and other checks of treatment plans to maintain high standards of patient care.
- Provides medical physics consultation to physicians, staff, and patients, addressing radiation safety for patients and their families.
- Participates in the quality assurance of linear accelerators, simulators, and other radiation therapy treatment devices.
- Performs acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Conducts all required performance testing on equipment, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual checks.
- Assists in physics coverage of other radiation oncology locations as directed by assigned supervisor.
- Provides clinical guidance and feedback to dosimetrists and board-eligible medical physicists, contributing to their annual evaluations.
- Participates in the development of new programs and technologies, such as information management systems and new treatment modalities.
- Engages in research and development activities, including support for clinical trials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Effective communication skills [Required]
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
- Advance computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
- Knowledge of computers and networking [Required]
- Knowledge of radiation oncology electronics and other medical devices [Required]
- Knowledge of brachytherapy [Preferred]
- Master's [Required]
- Doctorate [Preferred]
- Master's degree in medical physics or related field [Required]
- Graduate from the Medical Physics Therapy Residency Program [Required] OR
- 3+ years of clinical radiation therapy physics experience [Required]
- American Board of Radiology Part 1 [Required]
- Medical Physicist in Training (MPT) [Required] OR Therapeutic Radiology Physicist (TRP) [Required]
- Therapeutic Med Physics-Cert (TMP-C) [Preferred]
