As an Ultrasound Technologist III, you'll serve as an advanced clinical expert, performing complex sonographic procedures that support timely diagnosis and life-changing patient care. Your expertise will help deliver the highest level of diagnostic imaging while mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

The Ultrasound Technologist III performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound examinations that support the diagnosis and treatment of patients across multiple specialty areas. This role independently performs complex sonographic procedures, acquires high-quality diagnostic images, prepares complete documentation for radiologist interpretation, and provides exceptional patient care throughout the imaging process. The Ultrasound Technologist III serves as an advanced clinical resource, demonstrating expertise across multiple imaging specialties while maintaining compliance with professional practice standards, regulatory requirements, and AdventHealth policies.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine, advanced, and specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
Independently perform complex sonographic procedures while demonstrating advanced scanning competency across multiple specialty areas.
Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, addressing questions, and promoting comfort, privacy, and cooperation throughout the imaging process.
Acquire, evaluate, and optimize high-quality ultrasound images to support accurate radiologist interpretation.
Generate complete and accurate worksheets and documentation for radiologist review.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and PACS systems.
Utilize independent clinical judgment to recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and determine when additional imaging is necessary.
Maintain efficient workflow while completing examinations accurately and minimizing patient wait times.
Practice established infection prevention standards, including proper use of PPE and approved disinfectants.
Maintain ultrasound equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and operational state while reporting equipment concerns as appropriate.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate quality patient care.
Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, accreditation, and AdventHealth policies governing diagnostic imaging.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced knowledge of ultrasound physics, Doppler principles, cross-sectional anatomy, vascular anatomy, and sonographic imaging techniques
Ability to independently perform advanced ultrasound procedures with minimal supervision
Advanced scanning competency across multiple specialty areas
Ability to recognize subtle differences between normal and pathological anatomy
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, patient care principles, and medical ethics
Excellent patient assessment, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to provide compassionate care to patients across the lifespan, from infant through geriatric populations
Knowledge of specialized ultrasound procedures including Breast, Prostate, Operating Room (OR), Pediatric, Neuro, and Vascular imaging — Preferred
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR), PACS, and Radiology Information Systems
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
Ability to adapt quickly to new technology, imaging software, and departmental procedures
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in conversational English
Additional language proficiency — Preferred
Commitment to maintaining continuing education, professional competencies, and required registry credentials
