Advisor, Operational Priorities

We’re seeking an Advisor, Operational Priorities who thrives in dynamic environments and brings a strong combination of analytical thinking, relationship management, and strategic problem-solving skills. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Planning & Priorities, you will work collaboratively across the organization to research and analyze complex operational and regulatory issues, prepare solutions for emerging priorities, and develop actionable recommendations that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.   As a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, you will engage with a broad range of internal partners and senior leaders, leveraging your understanding of government structures, policy frameworks, and operational processes to drive alignment and advance key initiatives. The ideal candidate is curious, solutions-focused, and confident navigating ambiguity, with the ability to translate complex information into clear insights and meaningful action. If you are energized by cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, and opportunities to influence organizational priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment, the Operational Planning, Priorities and Performance Branch (OPB) would love to hear from you.   What You Will Do: Analyze and critically evaluate problem statements gathered from multiple sources to identify patterns, trends, and reconcile conflicts. Partner with colleagues to understand and identify significant risks, harms, or patterns of non-compliance, with a focus on emerging or previously unrecognized risks. Define the desired future state and establish clear goals aligned with organizational priorities. Conduct research and determine business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, and other analytical techniques. Draw conclusions from research and analysis to inform recommendations and solution development. Produce clear, coherent, and meaningful presentations, reports, and compliance plans that accurately reflect the results of assessments and research. Deliver updates and briefings on the progress of initiatives to branch leadership and stakeholders. Develop tailored action plans for priority-driven initiatives. Coordinate the execution of risk-based action plans across relevant teams or branches.    You Have:  Post-secondary education combined with 5+ years of relevant professional experience. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated experience improving business processes and supporting operational priorities. Demonstrated experience conducting research and analysis to support sound decision-making and recommendations. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences, including colleagues and senior leaders. Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders using tact, discretion, and political acuity. Strong organizational, problem-solving, record-keeping, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to assess risk and compliance considerations while applying regulatory principles, sector knowledge, and best practices. A strong digital mindset, including the ability to leverage technology, data, and digital tools to support operational planning, reporting, process improvements, collaboration, and informed decision-making. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Eligibility to work in Canada and the ability to successfully complete a criminal background check. Nice to Have: Proficiency with Power BI would be an asset. Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, relevant Acts, regulations, and standards applicable to the sectors regulated by the AGCO. Experience working within a regulatory, public sector, or broader government environment. Education, certification, or equivalent professional experience in risk management.
