Reporting to the Ministry of the Attorney General, the AGCO is responsible for regulating Ontario’s vibrant alcohol, gaming, horse racing, and private retail cannabis sectors in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
The Technology Regulation and iGaming Compliance Branch is seeking an iGaming Compliance Assurance Specialist (Responsible Gambling Stream) to step into a pivotal role within our team. As Ontario continues to navigate the regulated, competitive internet gaming (iGaming) market, the AGCO plays a crucial role in maintaining market and game integrity while ensuring consumer protection. As an iGaming Compliance Assurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in assessing regulatory risks, conducting advanced compliance activities, and ensuring that iGaming operators meet the highest standards of player protection.

What You Will Do:
Act as a key contributor to AGCO’s modern, risk-based compliance strategy by proactively assessing regulatory risk and identifying potential non-compliance.
Conduct effective compliance assurance activities, selecting and applying appropriate techniques for diverse circumstances.
Assess operators’ controls for customer interactions, with a strong focus on Responsible Gambling (RG) policies, procedures, and player protection requirements.
Perform thorough investigations into responsible gambling compliance activities with a mindset for prevention and harm reduction.
Ensure registrant compliance with Ontario’s responsible gambling requirements and regulatory standards.
Engage with external stakeholders in a client-centered manner to ensure expectations are clear and compliance is achieved.
Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment built on trust, accountability, and diversity.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying issues, trends, and solutions.
Build strong, trust-based relationships across the organization.
You Have:
Advanced knowledge of Responsible Gambling (RG) topics gained through a post-secondary education combined with several years of professional experience and specialization in the field.
Comprehensive understanding of RG best practices and risk profiling methodologies in iGaming to identify at-risk players and tailor effective interventions.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, conduct thorough research, and synthesize information to develop cohesive, end-to-end solutions.
Experience performing investigations into minor protection/player protection, identifying risks, and proposing appropriate mitigations.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy to assess complex incidents, interpret data, and make sound, informed decisions.
Proven ability to collect and assess evidence effectively, serving as a specialist in compliance assurance activities.
Ability to identify emerging trends and risks in RG to enhance player protection strategies.
A strong harm prevention mindset with empathy and understanding of addiction and mental health issues.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management. Demonstrated relationship management skills with the ability to influence and build consensus.
Eligibility to work in Canada and the ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.
Nice to Have:
Knowledge of the global iGaming industry will be an asset.
Willingness to learn and engage with other aspects of the iGaming industry and other specialist streams.
