AGE Solutions is seeking experienced Cable Technicians to support a large-scale, high-visibility campus-wide telecommunications infrastructure refresh for a federal customer in Washington, DC. This effort will support the modernization and upgrade of enterprise voice, data, and telecommunications systems across multiple buildings and secure environments.

This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with strong structured cabling experience, knowledge of BICSI standards, and expertise installing and maintaining Cat6 copper, fiber optic cabling, and telecommunications infrastructure in mission-critical environments.

Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Washington, DC to work onsite full time, or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling in accordance with BICSI and industry standards.
  • Perform telecommunications infrastructure installations including patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, cable trays, ladder racks, and related hardware.
  • Support campus-wide cabling refresh and modernization efforts across multiple buildings and secure environments.
  • Install and support single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling, including fiber patch panels, splice enclosures, and backbone connectivity.
  • Perform fiber optic testing and troubleshooting using OTDRs, light meters, and certification tools.
  • Read and interpret telecom drawings, floor plans, wiring schematics, and installation documentation.
  • Conduct cable routing, dressing, bundling, and labeling following customer standards and best practices.
  • Support cutovers, migrations, telecommunications room buildouts, and MDF/IDF upgrades.
  • Ensure all work complies with federal, security, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate installation documentation and support inventory tracking.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and government personnel to support project execution and timelines.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience installing and supporting structured cabling systems in enterprise or federal environments.
  • Strong knowledge of BICSI standards and telecommunications infrastructure best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Cat6 copper and fiber optic cable installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in telecommunications rooms, MDFs, and IDFs.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment and cable certification tools.
  • Ability to read telecom drawings and installation documentation.
  • Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • BICSI Technician certification or related BICSI credentials.
  • Fiber optic splicing or FOA certification experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting campus-wide infrastructure modernization or refresh projects.
  • Experience supporting secure federal or DoD environments.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces such as telecommunications rooms, above ceilings, and under raised floors.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Ability to pull and route copper and fiber cabling through ceilings, conduits, and cable pathways.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work in active construction, data center, and secure government environments.
  • Ability to travel between buildings or work locations across a campus environment as needed.
  • Must be able to comply with all site safety and security requirements.

The projected salary range for this position is $70,000+ annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including years of relevant experience, active security clearance level, certifications, technical skillset, contract requirements, and overall qualifications.
