The Continuous Improvement Lead advances operational excellence across the Wapato site by combining deep manufacturing expertise, engineering methods, and data-driven problem-solving to deliver sustainable improvements in product quality, process yield, operating cost, and efficiency. This role is uniquely accountable for leading process optimization, supporting scale-up and new product development, resolving complex manufacturing issues, and addressing significant sources of operational loss through structured root cause analysis and DMAIC methodologies. As a member of the site leadership team, the specialist also builds a culture of continuous improvement by coaching colleagues, strengthening problem-solving capabilities, and leading cross-functional initiatives that produce measurable and lasting results.

Responsibilities

  • →Subject matter expert in the manufacturing process with use of engineering methods to execute optimization to provide sustainable gains in product quality, process yields, operating costs and efficiency.
  • →Responsible for scale up, daily process troubleshooting in manufacturing (i.e., in-process adjustments, documentation of deviations, and quality reworks) and new product development
  • →Develop and maintains site operating procedures which contribute to safety, maintenance, and quality control as necessary.
  • →Executes root cause analysis & DMAIC-Type problem solving through data analysis related to the largest source of losses
  • →Drives and manages site-wide continuous improvement initiatives through coaching, training and capability development of colleagues

Primary internal and external stakeholders

  • A member of the senior team reporting directly to Site Lead
  • Collaboration and support of all business functions: Production, Logistics, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, and Maintenance
  • Strong partnership with external stakeholders such as suppliers, distributors, global procurement
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of relevant industrial experience, preferably in manufacturing or primary food production
  • Proficiency in inventory software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and problem-solving
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to summarize results clearly, effectively, and action oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual’s performance history and demonstrated potential.

  • Six sigma, lean manufacturing, and Statistical Process Control experience with certifications preferred.
  • Ability to lead change through coaching and train of colleagues regarding procedural changes and continuous improvement initiatives
