Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity through its Indonesia entity, PT AHK Testing Indonesia, who is looking for a HSE Officer to join our team based in Balikpapan, Indonesia. PT AHK Testing Indonesia provides independent analysis and inspection services to the metals, minerals and solid fuels industries. We have a well-earned reputation for our knowledge and professionalism in all aspects of weighing, sampling and analysis.

The HSE Officer plays a vital role in coordinating and reporting on HSE programs while supporting the preparation for Laboratory Accreditation based on ISO 17025:2017 standards. Acting as the HSE representative for the Kalimantan area, this position is responsible for investigating workplace incidents, conducting regular audits, and developing new safety procedures to ensure full regulatory compliance. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE 

Essential 

• Skill in developing and implementing HSE Management Systems and formulating related policies
• Experience in implementing HSE Management Systems and related policies, as well as effectively monitoring and reporting on these systems.
• Sound understanding of Chemical Management and Waste Management, including the ability to implement procedures around these.
• Advanced analytical and objective critical thinking skills, including the ability to compile data and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite applications for data management and reporting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to personnel.
• Ability to develop and present HSE workshops or training sessions.
• Experience in effectively training staff in HSE systems and safety protocols.
• Experience in working as a HSE Officer in a Laboratory environment (Coal, Mineral, FMCG, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience in having initiative and drive to improve safety culture.
• Emotional maturity and discipline to keep projects and teams on track under pressure.
  

Required Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in an HSE Management System
• Specific experience in the mining industry or laboratory testing based on ISO 17025:2017 and ISO 17020:2026 standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Public Health, or Chemistry studies (experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis)
• Possession of a valid driving license
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, with a valid passport and ability to obtain necessary visas
