SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – INTERNAL ONLY

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting internal progression opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team in Dundonald.

Working closely with the Deputy Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in supervising daily laboratory operations across our fuel testing streams (coal, coke, biomass, RDF, SRF). You will oversee workloads, ensure high analytical throughput, maintain full ISO 17025 compliance, and mentor team members.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Essential

• Proven capability in processing and validating analytical data unsupervised prior to final authorisation.
• Strong working knowledge of laboratory quality standards, operating practices, and compliance procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment within ISO guidelines.
• High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain auditable laboratory records

Required Competencies

• Ability to effectively supervise, lead, and guide a team.
• Aptitude for coaching, training, and supporting colleague development.
• Full understanding of Citrix.
• Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong quality focus with a strive for excellence.
• Good numeracy skills.
• IT skills – Microsoft and Google applications

 

Required Work Experience

• Practical hands-on experience within a laboratory analytical setting.
• Experience collaborating across multiple operational and management levels

 

Required Qualifications

• Standard Grade or Higher in at least Maths and/or English and 1 Science Subject.
• HNC or HND in a Science-related subject is desirable, though not essential.
